I had a problem quite a while ago with my connection and port forwarding. i m happy 2 say the port forwarding issue has been solved thx to the many contributors on this forum.

i have utorrent 1.6.1 on Windows XP SP2.

when i go to Options, Speed Guide and "Run speed test at: www.dslreports.com" it says my dnld speed is 556 Kbps, upld is 290 Kbps. So in the Speed Guide window I selected Connection Type as "xx/512k". This set my upld limit to 47 kB/s. Now my upld speed is constantly higher than my dnld speed.
i know i should upld if im gonna dnld but is there a way to maximize my dnld speed so im actually using my connection to dnld more than upld? pls help!!!

scratch that. i redid the speet test w/o simultaneously dnlding torrents and the dnld speed came out to 600 Kbps, upld was 312 Kbps. Should I set my Connection Type to "xx/640k" instead of "xx/512k"?

I would just like to point out that as effective as the tcpip patch is, it causes bittorrent to swallow up your bandwidth unless you set everything correctly (and in the end limit it) so if you happen to be sharing a connection, or need to do other things, I would be very careful with your settings.

I think that anyone who applies patches and doesn't read into them is just plain stupid and asking for trouble. I thought that would be obvious, but the fact that you raised it makes me think I should. Good point. The man is right! Listen to him people! And if you have applied the patch without reading up on it - you = retard

Also, setting a torrent client to upload too fast will cause performance issues. I set my upload to somewhere in between 60-75% of my line's average upload speed. It helps a lot.
