So i was eyeing the Crucial mx500 because of its excellent price to performance sata drive but looking closely on ssd database it appears its a single core silicon motion 2259h controller where most ssds are at least dual cores and the Samsungs are even triple core.

My question is how important are SSD controllers in real world performance, like what's the difference between a single core crucial mx500 and a triple core Samsung 860 Evo?

What is for me, if you get a benchmarks killer SSD? (due my help).

From the other hand, SSD performance, fast transfer of huge chunk of data, this is not limited by a single controller, but due the age of technology used at a specific motherboard.
Add system specs at your profile, so to get better targeted responses.

They are quite important, but what makes an SSD be "faster" than another isn't just one single item, its a combination of Controller + Flash (dies), number of dies, capacity, Firmware optimization, pSLC Caching design and a bunch of other features that might even DEPEND on the workload you need.

Not much money more to go up to a NVMe M.2 PCIE3 2TB at that price.
Hi,
Just before this 980 pro 2tb was going for 180.us
I was waiting for it to drop more and it never did now it's back up to 220.us or so with heatsink 250.us.

I was looking for two though.
