how long does it take for steam to send you a password recory email?

Hey guys, well I had to reset my steam password on Sunday and I still have not recieved an email back from them to reset my password. I was wondering if anyone knows how long does it usually take for them to get back to you.

Usually within 20 minutes. Are you sure the e-mail you are checking is the registered one? At this point I would request a password reset again, as the system could have made an error and just not sent it.

yes I use steam itself and I submitted it a few times, still no response. Is there a more effecient way to do it without using the steam app itself? this isnt the first time I ran into this issue.

yep on the countless time i did it for one of my 2 account ... i always got 20min at max (5min on a regular basis), well i have a good memory but i used a totally new pass ... solved by using something more ... "remember friendly" and linking both account to only one ...

i also do it via the STEAM software

i did it a couple of days ago and the email arrived in moments, literally in the time it took to load my email the reset code was there.

the email is yahoo, which i dont use anymore. could that have anything to do with it? its an old email address i used back in the day when i first started my steam account. its over 10 years old lol.

Get your email switched via support ticket. Yahoo is junk.

Also the email should arrive within half an hour if not instantly.

I agree, I hate yahoo lol, but that was way before gmail was avaible, my steam account is from 2002 or 2003 I believe. And would I go about doing that? sorry to ask but I have never put a steam support ticket in.

ok i just submitted a ticket to get this resolved since i still havent got a recovery email yet. how long does it usually take for them to send you a ticket back and do they notify you via email?

Have you checked your junk/spam folder? Sometimes emails wind up there.

+1 on that... check the folders in your app, you use; and, at yahoo's mail, both, if Yahoo has any filtering.

i think it has to do something with yahoo mail. i just tried with a back up account i had with my gmail address and i got a response in less than a minute. ah it sucks because my main account is attached to my old yahoo address and I dont know how to reset my email with out actually logging into my account which i cant do until i get the recovery email. its a pain in the ass lol.

I know Yahoo deactivates email accounts that aren't used in a long time. That may be contributing to what the account is receiving.

You need to keep your e mails current or loose your account

I had my account hacked but I wasn't using it for a long time. Finally i went to log in and the password was changed. So i received and new password within minutes. Logged in and i had a bunch of new games. The guy didn't change the e mail. Si i changed the password and e mail. Score

well i can still access my old yahoo account. ive been checking it every couple of hours but still nothing. it is the same email I have attached to my primary steam account. I dealt with this before a couple of years ago but it didnt take this long to get an email it was almost a day from what i can remember though before I got the email sent to my yahoo account. but its been almost 5 days. thats what has me confused. is there a setting in yahoo email or something i should try with the email?
