My tower got struck by lightning and won't turn on when plugged up, is there a way to get my CD out of it without breaking it? We plan on having it fixed if possible but I need the CD.

you will find a tiny hole on the front panel of the disc player. Stick a pin or something similar in the hole and it will release the tray.

I use a bent paperclip

There is a hole near the eject button. Simply stick a long and sturdy needle in it, and it will eject the tray (just like SIM card extractor on some new phones)

EDIT: ger-r--r-r.... he beat me again.

I don't see a tiny hole..

You need to take the DVD ROM out of the case, because the hole is behind the front cover.

you should be able to flick the cover open with your fingers, then you will see the face of the DVD player.

What you should do is get an old cd-rom or dvd-rom from somewhere, maybe a system someone is throwing out. Take the drive and destroy it enough to where you can see inside and how the manual release works. You will never have a problem opening one again.

Beat it with a hammer. Eventually it will be tired of pain and it will hand you over the CD.
