just wanted some tips on how to flash bios on my ABIT an8 sli. MOBO

Im having start up problems- my system just 'sits' at the mobo post screen and doesn't go through to windows

want to flash my bios chip on mobo- i think this might help because i have tried everything else.

Well normally there will be instructions to guide you through doing a BIOS flash in both your motherboard manual and on the manufacturer's website, so I won't go into the details of that now - you can have a quick look around the ABIT website.

But I would like to point out that there is a possibility that it isn't your BIOS that is the true cause of the problem. Other things like dodgy/ loose sticks of RAM or bad hard-drive connections can potentially cause similar behaviour, so it's worth taking a quick look and ensuring everything is plugged in fully. Do any error messages appear or are there any beeps as it loads?
 
Make sure "quick POST" is enabled. If it is not, then it will take a while for the computer to make it through POST as it has to do additional tests, such as a more thorough memory test.
