You can use rivatuner, but you might need to tweak detection, as mbam and some other apps can interfere with RT as they're misinterpreted as 3d application. However, if you have msi afterburner installed as well, you can click the little ! At the top , and it should show you any apps categorized as 3d which RT thinks are running. Once that list is empty, you should get a osd (if you have it enabled) as well as the ability to record desktop
Never used FRAPS before. I have it now installed what button to press to start it showing the FPS inside windows ? I tried minimizing and hot keys F9, F11.
On Windows 7.

you need to set detection up in Rivatuner, to detect the application that is running the large 3-d model
