The above problem i am having . on my Mother board. GA - P55. -UD3 (rev 1.0).I understand i need to update the BIOS.I have put it on a USB drive now do i get it the USB drive to boot it off it?Can i put it on a CD disk to do it that way?
Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer’s hardware may not support booting into this disk. Ensure that the disk’s controller is enabled in the computer’s BIOS menu.

Enter BIOS and change startup drive to USB device.

Enter BIOS and change startup drive to USB device.
I have it says loading operating system
cannot find grigr
Press space bar to hold the sceen ,any other key ro boot previous MBR
I do that and it goes back to saying it
Cannot find grigr ?
I looked up * grigr * i had never heard of it before now i know but not how to sort the problem out o_O
I will try XP I tried 7 before.

You don't need to boot to anything. Have your flash drive formatted to FAT or FAT32 with the ROM or BIN file. Turn the PC on and start hitting the <Del> key. It should take you to the Q-BIOS (or whatever they call it) updater. Check the manual to see if the flash drive has to be in a specific motherboard USB or not.

But this is not a Retro board o_O

I looked up the manual for the Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3 (rev 1.0) and it says hit the <End> key on startup to get to the Q-Flash BIOS updater.
I have updated the bios. :)
But unfortunately still have the problem of not being able to get an OS on a disk.:(
Computer disk hardware Config problem..
Could not read from the selected boot disk ,check boot path and disk hardware.o_O
What does that all that mean. and how can i sort it out ?o_O

What OS are you trying to install?
How was the disk formatted (did you format with the Win install disk on the P55-UD3 or on another PC) and what is it formatted to?
Is it IDE or SATA?
If SATA, is it plugged into an IDE port with an adapter or is it plugged into a SATA port?

Check the disk format make sure it’s MBR? I know you can boot GUID on non-EFI platforms with a compatible boot loader but not sure about windows install

It should be ,and for some reason the drive has a black line sayng 9mb unallocated ,I have no idea how that got there. o_O
GPT greyed out so it is MBR checked in disk management

Why are you messing with IDE?

Just plug the Sata or whatever drive you have into another computer, format it in diskmgmt.msc, then plug it back into the new motherboard and let the Windows installer configure the drive.

Don't stuff about trying to repair or allocate/change MBR/GPT etc.

If it fails, it probably isn't the best use of your time to try and revive a 15 year old motherboard.

I was,nt you mentioned IDE o_O .thats what i did a number of times with the same result.I agree with you about not wasting more time trying to get it working as i mentioned i am not going to get any further with it.I have three boards that are working, two that need caps replacing, and a third one that does work :) .

Youtube have answers relating to your motherboard

Create a bootable USB flash drive with Rufus and Windows ISO. Make sure its MBR/BIOS and not GPT/UEFI.

Plug it to the PC and ensure USB is select as first boot device.

Before you install, go to repair mode / recovery console and erase the partition table of the hard disk.

In console type down:

diskpart
diskpart list

Now select the hard disk you wish to use from the list by typing

select disk #

Verify the disk is highlighted by typing "diskpart list" again.

Then type down:
clean
exit

Reboot from the USB again and install Windows normally.

After Windows reboot for the first time, go to the BIOS and select HDD as first boot device.

Thanks for that Regeneration :) i have selected this disk as the first boot.If this does not work i will give what you say a try.:)I have done it  I am hoping the problem before ,where it froze and would not go any further was caused by the BOIS not being up to date.I am glad that is done but i would like to get 7 on there. :) The CPU in there is a decent one for that board i5 750.:)I did have a Dell with the same socket 1156 which had a i3 550 in it.

I tried get these browsers on XP but only MYPAL would ,i know that is a highly recomened one for XP.
I would have thought Oprea was to new to work on XP.K-Meleon os is only good for CPU,s with out se3.
My Pal is the best :) I don,t know why the guy in the other video put sea monkey on the list or Opreao_O
