Hi,

So this Laptop is old but me and a Friend want to Install CloudREADY but the BIOS doesn't Allow USB boot and yes i tried Plop Boot Manager via CD. What we try to replace is the HDD for a mSata Case with a mSata 32GB Card in it. I have CloudREADY installed on the drive (Just haven't booted it as after you install the OS it shuts-down) upon installing the OS

Hoping All works out Cause i used this OS on another Atom Notebook and it runs fine

Oh damn. I remember those HP mini laptops... Some of them even had dedicated or integrated Nvidia cards that could run L4D and other steam games. Those laptops paved the way for the HP DM series of laptops.

No help but seeing HP mini made me feel extremely nostalgic

Yeah i feel you. HP bodged a bios update for my HP DM1 that sees the stock wireless N wireless card as a 54g card and there is no way of changing it back and i cant upgrade it either because any other hardware is blacklisted by the bios.

I solved the issue by buying a B-grade (but brand new) laptop from a boutique laptop builder and upgrading whatever i could on it.

I wont by HP anymore because of this

BTW, That's my 40K Battery Powered Wheelchair. 3 Years ago i was in a car accident that almost killed me. Now i'm just waiting for my pay to get my surgery under-way as i can't walk on my left leg as pier to me being in a coma for 3 months, the way my leg was it caused it to form like a rock to where i can't have it straightened out. At least my Computer knowledge is still here though

And here's the Video of CloudREADY on the Notebook LINK

Keep-in-Mind CloudREADY is smart as It knows the Screen Size and Res. of the Notebook so within Yoube 360P is what you get as going any higher would cause Lag and the Picture just Looks good

Sorry I know this is old but for what it’s worth in the event you’re still using it, you can actually boot from usb, though it can be finicky, and require some finagling. This thing was as good as a netbook could be when it came out, the express card slot was unprecedented and the “high res” screen option that much better.

If ssd’s were more affordable back then they’d have been more tolerable, but I wound up switching to a Sony UX280 UMPC with the tiny 5” screen but a full fledged Intel core duo processor. Been playing with both again lately though.

I'm about to do a test here with a SD Card to Sata PCB. It'll allow me to install CR onto a SD card which you can't. Be Interesting to see how it'll go. Yes you can have CR boot from the installer and just run it that way but it's not really worth it as the performance is lacking from USB speeds

Well the SD slot is even slower than USB, a SR to SATA converter won’t give you SATA speeds. A small ssd in a USB enclosure would actually be faster in most regards than a regular hard drive on the 2140’s SATA port, I think it’s only SATA 2 right, not that that changes my statement. The most latent free connection would be a expresscard to SATA, and depending on the PCI bandwidth you could possibly get faster speeds than the internal SATA connection that way if my brain is working right at this hour.
