Hi everyone. I just wanted to ask if anyone of you has tested hybrid crossfire under windows XP , since I have a FOXCONN 780G motherboard with a MSI HD 2400, crossfire enabled and don't seem to get any improvement over the card alone. I have tested only with a couple of old games and a new one, motogp08. My processor is an Athlon X2 3600.

Fill in your system specs, and what are you getting for FPS?

Motherboard Foxconn a7gm-s, 2GB Supertalent ddr2 800mhz , Athlonx X2 3600 (2ghz 256kb L2 cache per core)dual channel, MSI RX2400 graphics card. I hav obtained more or less 2700 points in 3dmark2003, both with
cross fire enabled or with the MSI card alone. Motogp08 works with the card alone, but stutters a lot with cross fire enabled. Windows XP

do you have the bios settings for the hybrid crossfire enabled mines "on-board+PCI". in the mobo manual i found useful settings to help

Yes I have "enabled surround view", if i didn't I suppose CCC wouldn't say that crossfire is enabled.

have you completely ripped out drivers and reinstalled them, probably the most common cause for weird problems. I always use driver cleaner pro.

I've just uninstalled previous drivers using control panel menu, now I have installed the last radeon drivers. I asked here at the forum because I haven't seen a review of hybrid cross fire under windows xp, only in vista, and I don`t have the performance increase i was expecting (i'm a casual gamer with my kids)

According to the bottom of this page

http://game.amd.com/us-en/crossfirex_hybrid.aspx

it is not supported under windows xp.

I know it probably supposed to be changed, but I'm having a hard time hunting down any reviews about it, and any info on it.

i have only set-up hybrid crossfire twice, both times under vista and on asus boards. i know that surround view needed to be off in my case, as with it on, the onboard and add-in graphics acted as two separate video chips; and the option for crossfire was no longer available in CCC.

as for performance, well, its not that great. on a vista box with 2g of ram, i was able to get BF2 "playable" at 800x600 on high with 2x AA & 2x AF. Bumping the resolution up to 1024 was too much for it unless i dropped everything to med settings with no AA/AF.

It's available in windows XP since catalyst 8.7 i think. And I know i shouldn't expect too much, since mines is a budget machine, but at least a 20 or 30 % improvement in games playables on such a machine (In Vista reviews I've read of 40 to 60% improvements in certain games, but I've obtained none)
