Help! I'm currently about to start building a PC and I noticed that one of my CPU sockets is bent and it appear the other is, missing? Maybe someone can help me. The MOBO is a Z97 MSI Gaming 5. If any other info or pictures are needed feel free to ask. Any help is appreciated.

It certainly looks that way. Can you RMA the board? Alternatively, you could just try running it like this. I bought a server barebones recently that came with a bent pin in CPU socket #4. I plopped in all of the CPUs anyways and it's been working fine. No guarantee, but a decent number of the pins are redundant.

Actually it appears that I'm not missing any pins, they were just bent in such a way that I couldn't see them. They are still bent though.

If the pins are ever so slightly bent, will the CPU still function correctly? I don't think I can move the pins back to their exact original position.

I had a cpu water block go into the socket on my z87 board once and mess up a whole lot of pins. Got a magnifying glass and little flat screwdriver and put them back best I could. The board has been running perfectly fine for a long time now without any issue.

Thank you both for the incredibly quick replies. I think my pins are pushed back as best as I can possibly get them. Time to risk it for the biscuit and begin building!

you wont get it RMA`ed (for free no chances). most likely you bent it by accident. been there done that..
