Hi i currently have some horrible display issues with my predator 15
Processor
Intel Core i7-6700HQ (Intel Core i7)
Graphics adapter
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M - 4096 MB, Core: 1038 MHz, Memory: 2500 MHz, GDDR5, ForceWare 354.00, Optimus
Memory
16384 MB
, 2x 8 GB DDR4-RAM (2133 MHz), 2 of 4 slots filled, max. 64 GB
Display
15.6 inch 16:9, 1920 x 1080 pixel, LG LP156WF6-SPP1 (LGD04D5), IPS, Full HD, glossy: no
Mainboard
Intel Sunrise Point HM170
Storage
Lite-On CV1-8B256, 256 GB
, M.2-SSD + Western Digital Blue WDC WD10JPVX-22JC3T0, 1000 GB HDD @5400 rpm

Basically the laptop crashed (blue screened) and ever since ive been having trouble loading any of my games and some programs.
The games will load but will not display. The games audio will play as normal and i can see the processes running in task manager. I've tried updating my graphics drivers and a bunch of other random fixes but to very little success. The only workaround I've accomplished is changing my resolution from 1920x1080 to a lower setting and then my games will display and run fine. Some games will run at my normal resolution. I'm completely lost and hoping someone can help me figure out whats wrong. Using my laptop at a garbage resolution is just impractical and just a pain to do!

Sometimes instead of black screens i also get no display at all!

Can you post a screen shot of the Blue Screen error message?
It will help us to determine what is wrong.

I think in im the right place but not certain. I also believe this is the right date where the initial issues started\

maybe this?

have you cleaned the fan vents lately on your machine? Latest drivers? What do the "errors" say when you click on them?

Try to rule out heat first by checking the fan is working and vents clear etc, also use monitoring software like HWMonitor to check temps.

The computer has a built in fan cleaner acer dust defender which i used and the computer doesn't really show any overheating on HWMonitor temperature seems normal even when running some demanding games that still work on my PC like fallout 4. I do also believe the computer did overheat at the time to cause the crash im just not sure how to repair any damage it may have caused to whatever i need to display certain programs in higher resolution.

Edit - Im pretty dumb i think the issue may be that i only updated my 980m drivers but not the Intel HD 530 drivers trying that now

I would not rely on the dust defender. I would flip it over and visually inspect it and use some canned air to blow thru the vents. Maybe re-paste the gpu/cpu.

Yup, dust your vents and fans, download last known working gpu driver, latest chipset drivers, disable/turn off wifi or disconnect ethernet, ddu your gpu drivers twice restart each time. Install latest chipset driver, restart, then install last known working gpu driver, restart. Make sure windows power properties are set to max performance.

I also have an Acer Predator 15, similar specs. I had the black screen issue for a couple of games (Gal Civ 3 and BSG Deadlock). I tried a myriad of solutions, even re-installing the OS. The one that did the trick?

Uninstalling the Intel GPU, check the box to remove the drivers, reboot. Install the latest Intel-Official GPU drivers. Otherwise the only resolution that would display those games was 1280x1024 UNLESS I was forcing the Intel GPU...then 1920x1080 was fine, but performance was horrid.

Intel strikes again, i knew on desktops igps could cause resource conflicts...

Kernel-Processor Power points to voltage problems / power supply problems either due to excessive temps+OC (ie dust etc.) or perhaps your power brick doesn't provide enough juice. This can happen over time as caps degrade.

I think your software and address errors are just a logical result of that; the CPU starts throwing errors.

One possibly very easy test is trying a replacement power brick to see if issues go away. Its also one of the easiest components to replace.

And cleaning, but that is standard procedure IMO
