Hi,

I wonder if anyone have 7.9 score in WEI(Windows Experience Index) on Sandy Bridge processor like i7-2600k or i5.
It is possible? I read many topics about this and people can't get 7.9 even on 5 GHz.

It's not that I care about these results but I'm curious why I hit only 7.8.

WEI is an autistic piece of crap that has a scoring system that literally means very little.
Don't beat yourself up. My 2133mhz RAM scores lower than 1333mhz in WEI. Why? Because reasons.

They even removed it in Windows 8.1. :toast:

agreed, tho my main rig end with a 7.7 WEI

7.7 Calculation (Xeon E3-1275v2, basically a i7-3770 with i7-3770K base frequencies and turbo)

7.9 Ram (Gskill ARES 2133)

7.9 Aero

7.9 3D

7.7 SDD wich is funny since with a i5-2400 i had 7.9 and i didnt changed my SSD ahah proof thats a joke this WEI

best update ever! improving by removing for once did something good :D

What about Win 8? Anyone get 9.9?

I have 7.9 on 1866MHz.

no use 8.1 will have no WEI, another proof its a useless thing rather rely on benchmark than WEI

My SSD give me 7.9 but only when I have a 25GB or more free space on the disk. When I had 7GB WEI showed me 5.9 :twitch:

I am almost certain Win7 WEI assumes that all drives are HDD's. When there is less than 25% space on a HDD, it performs considerably worse than when there is more than 50% free (Because the largest portions of the HDD are on the outer rim of the platters, more data can be written per revolution). Thus, WEI assumes your SSD is a HDD, and believes it should be running like shit on a shovel.

That's just speculation though.

7.9 CPU can only be achieved with 16 cores or more, regardless of clock speed.
Or you could always just edit the XML file that holds your scores to say 7.9 :p

i ha d 7.9 then 7.7 now 7.8, yes yet another proof that rating is a total failure.

the only time i did see a WEI used as a argument was on a website like EBAY (ricardo.ch) in a pc auction and the seller titled "WOW 7.8 WEI best computer worth the price asked" and it was a i7-2600 +4gb ram 32gb SSD 250gb HDD GT550 450w random crap psu in a generic case at 2200chf ...

that was the most bad argument i ever saw to justify a terribly wrong pricing

Probably secret code for selling cocaine or something. Or people are just that dumb. I'd rather believe the first :D

luckly its a speculation because the 7.7 was when i had 30gb+ free and the 7.8 is just now with 19.5gb free

So for e.g I need 8 core(+ 8 virtual cores) processor to get 7.9? lol

It doesn't matter how they're arranged, as long as Windows sees 16 threads.

It's not fair.

It's not fair.

aherm ... i fail to see why ... no point in fairness in a stupidly useless rating .... 7.7-7.8 = 4core 8thread or 8core 8thread 7.9 = high end workstation cpu 8core 16thread or 16core 16thread and above .... kinda logical in the end

and you have 7.8 with a cpu who is way under mine who have 7.7 ;) be proud! (i fail to see the logic where a i7-3770 based Xeon is under a i7-2600K since the WEI doesnt seem to count the OC)

edit indeed i cant understand :D
1 Intel Xeon E3-1275 V2 - 3.50GHz 13567pts
2 Intel Core i7-2600K - 3.40GHz 12120pts

I agree with the others that it is not a accurate rating, but just cause you asked, my 2600k at 4.5ghz gets 7.8, my memory and GFX gets 7.9, and my HD, well let's just say I really need to replace the SSD that died on me.

Win7 is limited to max 7.9.

I got 8.4 in win8 lol, but yeah like Kursah said they removed it in 8.1..

Just close your eyes and hit alt+f4. Don't look at that filth.

Actual it is still in windows 8.1. Just not in an easy g.u.i. form.

raaaahhhhh Dreambreaker! (oh wait why do i even bother about win8 8.1 ... im still on win7)

Anyone that wants to do it:
1. Run admin. cmd: Winsat formal (takes a little bit)
2. Open: C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\DataStore
3. Open latest: date.time.Formal.Assessment.XML
