Im working on a gateway netbook LT20164 Ive tried everything i can think of to get this thing from going into full screen mode everytime you enter internet explorer. It jumps back n forth from full screen mode to regular mode like instant back n forth cannot even surf web at all its useless to even try. Ive updated video drivers chipset and anything else not updated im confused why its doing this. Its like a sticky key is stuck. any ideas guys?

Check whether the F11 key is stuck in its "pressed" position. If not, then download the Windows version of "Unetbootin" from sourceforge.net and an .iso file of Ubuntu Netbook Edition from Ubuntu.com. Start Unetbootin (does not require installation) and use the "open .iso from HDD" feature to properly transfer it to a USB stick and thus turn it into a bootable device. Any stick from at least 700 MB will do, btw.

Use the USB stick to boot the netbook from, and choose to try the OS without installing it. Once it is booted, start Firefox and see whether the problem persists. Then we'll see further.

seems ok ill try a while

I have a feeling its sp3 im gonna try xp sp2 see what happens

Definitely seems like there is something wrong with the F11 key to me.

You can try PassMark KeyboardTest to make sure the keyboard is working correctly and not falsely sending F11 key presses. it has a free 30 Eval which should be good enough to test the keyboard.

If it is a faulty F11 key, this page describes how to remap the key so it isn't constantly read as being pressed.
