Hey guy I'm trying to install windows xp on a Hp pavilion a1221n when I'm installing the files for windows xp it's shows the famous blue screen of death and when I try to boot it normal is said DR is missing and I haven't install any hardware or software the problem started when the computer got infected with a virus tried to find the solution with google but I couldn't find any way to fix so can somebody help please I'will appreciate it Thanks in Advance:confused::confused:

my thought would be to get a bootable copy of the hard drives utility, wipe it clean to all zeros, format, then install typically.

assuming this install isnt comming from the image on the HDD.

You may want to think about running hdd diag on it too, should be in the bios in most hp notebooks. Just let it run overnight and see the good (or bad) news in the am.

When it asks, hit F8 and be sure to install your sata drivers using a floppy or USB stick. ...If you haven't done that, that is.

Are you running at stock with the proper memory voltage and timings?

The 0xC2 error is BAD_POOL_CALLER, and in this case parameter 1 (41) means it is attempting to free a non-allocated unpaged pool.
This is normally a driver issue.

What kind of WinXP disk are you using? OEM (HP?), full retail version?
