I wanted to try out this tool for a while now but i can't install any drivers with any settings because this shows up every time the driver installer launches. I've checked the folder and "NVCleanstall.ini" and "setup.cfg" are in the folder so i don't get why it fails like this. It happens even if i bundle the installer and try installing through that.

OS: Windows 11 21H2 (64 bit) GPU: GTX 1050 Ti (Laptop but it's not reflected in it's name in the Device manager or it's specs)

It's looking for "nvcleanstall.ini", if that doesn't exist, it shows that error.

Could you get me a screenshot of the folder with setup.exe ?

interesting .. and you right-click setup.exe and select "run as administrator" and get that error? or do you launch it in some other way?

Tried both ways, it doesn't change it

Also i'm not sure if it's useful but looking at the event log setup.exe throws this exception: 0xc000041d looking it up it translates to STATUS_FATAL_USER_CALLBACK_EXCEPTION

I may have an add-on for this. I was getting file not found error too. So I profiled it with Process Monitor. I have attached the log from that. The setup program is looking for some VERY odd and VERY inappropriate files!!!

I am using v1.6.0, and I copied the folder out of my temp directory manually.

OK, I know why my errors happened, although the files setup.exe tried to access are still QUITE curious. When I expanded out the nvidia installer exe using 7zip, I did not pull out folders I was not going to use, such as Telemetry, Shadowplay, etc. When I tried it with a full extract folder, I got a viable installation.

This does bring to mind a potential feature request: make it so you ask what the user wants to install FIRST - then use that info to extract out ONLY the stuff that is required.
