If you have a portable drive, even a usb stick, and you take it to a friends house and there are games installed, connect it, can you play the games at the computer you took it too? I have always been bewildered by this mystery...

no. even though some of the files will be there, it won't run because it has to be in the registry and other things like that....idk completely why, i just know it wont.

you'd have to make new registry entries on your friends computer to play the game.. you can probably make some .reg files which will automatically add the neccessary entries.

i think only some games can work but i dont think any new games would old sort that dont use the registry

Some games don't require registry settings and the likes. Others rely on it. It really depends on the game in question.

I don't really know about the newest games but I know a bunch of older games can be put on a jump drive and work on another pc. My friends and I used to put age of empires 2, counter strike 1.6, and halo on jump drives/ipods and play eachother over the school network. Lets just say we don't do it any more since we got introuble from the district IT department a few times, but it was fun while it lasted.
