back then there were stuff like writing gpu HWID to .ini file of the driver... then driver could be installed to the "unsupported" card. This wasn't about the Studio driver, but, the scenario and purpose seems same to me.

this is from where you could possibly start.

Unpack Studio driver eg with 7zip
Run NVCleanstall
select "use driver files on disk"
browse to the unpacked setup.exe
tick "add HW support" and select
template: any laptop GPU
id: 1427
name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M

However there is no reason to do so.
"Game Ready Driver and Studio Driver are the same version so for the most part, with an exception of a flag that determines if it is detected as Studio or Game Ready, it is the same driver. So the performance should be the same across both drivers."

I'll try my best to find these "retro" forums etc., but, btw, currently I've found some related info about that with NVCleanInstall software:

hi thanks sorry for late reply.
have you ever tested it on your unsupported GPU ?

A few times when a Studio driver was newer than the GRD
You can even install a Tesla driver on a laptop.
As i did 2 days ago...

Today GRD and Studio 572.16 have been released.
If you install GRD 572.16 without any modding, it will behave exactly like Studio 572.16

hmm i think it should be different.. Studio drivers are more stable and come with optimizations for productivity software like video or image editing.
which is what i need it because im not a gamer :)

if you dont mind could you please let me know about the stability? is everything okay while running any apps? such as adobe premier pro, ETC..

and the apps can detected this gpu while it running on unsupported driver?

thank you in advance

hi, please let me know later :)

thank you
well.
I have GTX 960 in one PC.
There are Windows 11 installed.

I have used latest NVCleanInstall from here.
Got latest Studio driver for Desktop GPUs.

Prepped driver with NVCleanInstall - pretty straightforward & EZ process - you select what you want - then it goes to next screen - there are "magic" option - ADD HW ID - tick it - select some "template" - real GPU which we will "replace" in driver INF file - there are text input field - next to id - app shows you "installed gpu HWID" (DEV_XXXXX) - write yours XXXXX to text input field there - next next etc...
then it "preps" driver. - and you have option - run driver, go to folder and other. click RUN driver - install it as usual nvidia driver install process.

I run some 3D game - gpu works, no "unusual" performance "drops", works as with "compatible" driver. good luck!

I've got an older card a gtx 680m but from my testing the newest I can get is to 472.12. Any driver newer than that doesn't load the nvidia control panel or use the gpu in any programs. You might have a limit on how new a driver you can install(albeit maybe a different limit than my ancient card).
