Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770 Processor 775 spotted

Completely ridiculous. If it was only $150-200 more than the 9650, i was gonna sell my chip, and pick one up, but Intel can kiss my ass at those prices.

Says the man who bought a $1k processor

just not worth upgrading from a QX9650 to a QX9770 in the slightest. The silicone may be better binned, but you will acheive the SAME overclocks, same scores etc.

It is a beast of a chip, but then so is the QX9650.

Its just like buying a QX9650 with a factory set 200mhz oc

It's just a higher default fsb and a different multi anyway.

Not quite hat. These are supposed to be the first C1 stepping chips. Rumored to OC better.

I am eager to see how they do, but I'm never gonna buy one at that price. I'd risk it if it retailed for $1200, because I could recoup a nice chunk by selling my 9650. But at it's current price, that's probably a minimum of like another $800 out of my pocket. Just can't justify that. $400 I might be able to justify, but even that would be a stretch.

Doesn't the 9650 have some kind of error or something? That's why Intel delayed the regular 45nm Quads, to fix the issue?

I heard that. I think it's mostly to do with the temp diodes, but I'm not certain.

Do OEM CPU's come with that intel sticker?

lol really I want one.

You know, you're the second person to ask that in a thread I was involved in. lol.

But no, I don't think they do.

QX9775 is out too, it's on Newegg for $1620. <- LGA 771 though, and I don't think you can run it on just any Seaberg 5400 board, just the Skulltrail.

Lemme see one get upto 6 ghz on air then I'll buy a few

you can find it in Greece for about 1200 euro.... too f* expensive for anyone to buy, unless a sponsorship is involved...;)

Talk about getting ripped off....it's just short of ÂŁ1000 here, which is roughly $2000 :(

That dude's awesome, i keep seeing people post his stuff and its almost always a great price. Although $1200 for a proc is still way too much imo...........

that was a retail Qx9650 a month ago.

I know, its ridiculous, all the extremes are ridiculously overpriced imo. $400-1000 more for an unlocked multi, no thank you. Then again, I'm poor, so perhaps I am just bitter...

I wish I had the extra cash to buy a cpu like this. Sadly I have never spent more than $100 on a cpu. My 5000+ X2 Black Edition seems to fit my needs just fine though.

Fitting your needs is all that matters, really.

Yeah but who doesn't want to have the fastest processor you can buy just so you can say that you have it. Most people here (including me) upgrade their computers because they want to not because they need to. Sadly working a part time job and having a car payment doesnt give me a lot of money to spend on my computer :banghead:. Good thing I don't have a girl right now or I wouldn't have any money to spend on my computer.
