Intel Mobile Core i3

I was comparing mobile Core i3s with their respective mobile i5s and I realized that mobile i5s provide more features (Turbo Boost etc.) and more GHz but cost either the same as i3s or lower. What is the world is going on with Intel's mobile lineup?

cost lower? i5 has different market than i3. i3 for entry and basic features but i5 for better performance. maybe if you wanna compare like pentium G with i3

First, tray prices on the Intel Ark mean nothing - you can't buy these as bare chips anyway, so who knows what system integrators actually pay. Second, with mobile chips you really have to take TDP rating into account for pricing as well. 15W and lower chips often are as expensive or more expensive than 'better' 35W chips because they take more binning and validation to work at lower voltages.

"U" processor costs more than a "M" processor. You pay more for a processor that uses fewer watts. You are paying for the extra battery life.

Their pricing is all about the # of cores, speed of those cores, and the watts used by those cores at those speeds. Watts don't matter on a desktop CPU when it comes to pricing. On a mobile CPU, pricing is all about performance per watt.
