Intel SSD's reviews

  • Thread starter Thread starter wolf2009
  • Start date Start date
intel 80GB X25-M 595$ / 80 GB = 7.4375 $ per GB
OCZ 64GB 259$ / 64 GB = 4.046875 $ per GB
what's better 1 intel or 2 ocz raid0

That would be very dependant on your raid controller. Those kind of speeds don't handle standard onboard raid very well. If you get a nice pci-e card though, the situation changes a lot.

ssd's currently have great read speeds, but slower write speeds than drives like WDSE16 640gb, Samsung F1 750GB , Seagate 720.11

i should really get into RAID HDD setups...im too poor.

Me thinks it's too early for these things to be worthwile.

In a couple of years, maybe.

Only the X-25E is going to utilize SLC chips, that sucks.
I think this is actually going to work out great with intel getting in on the action, more competition = lower prices and better products.
Don't think SSD's are pratical at this time for any application other than a laptop. Will be sticking with my V-Raptors for a few more years, or at least untill drive capacity goes up and prices come down.
