Software Win 7 Ult.SP1 - Ultimate Edition 4.2
I live in an area where dial up is the only internet available, therefore, I use ICS for my home network, which currently consists of 7 computers. 2 of them are running Ubuntu, 3 have Win 7 Ult 64 bit, one has Win 7 Pro 64 bit. The computer that dials up to the internet is running XP Pro 32 bit. I decided to update it to Win 7 Ult 32 bit. I installed another 1TB HDD and installed Win 7, all the drivers and so on. Got it connected to the internet and to my lan. The computer that I mainly use is one with Ult. 64 bit with the latest version of Firefox. Some webpages have been not loading correctly. They start to load then suddenly say that there is a content coding error and to contact the owner of the site. Among the several different web sites, TechPowerUp forums is one that acts this way. Some websites will load distorted. I can boot back into the XP drive, connect to the internet and no more problems. Pages load just fine. So, I'm wondering if I'm overlooking a setting on the ICS, or if it's a Win. 7 problem, or could it be that I'm using an old 3com ethernet adapter on the computer that connects to the internet ? It was probably brand new at the same time Windows 95 was. I have not noticed this problem on any of the other computers though.

Have you installed the latest flash and other plug-ins that are used on some internet sites. Try that, and report back if it works.

Adobe flash player and silverlight already installed with current updates.

Have you tried a different browser. Google chrome maybe, or internet explorer. It is just weird that all your other computers have no problems with internet sites.

Did not even occur to me to try a different browser. Not only is it weird that the other computers have no problems, but, what really gets me is that when I switch to Win 7 from XP on the dial up computer is the only time I have the problem on the other computer which is the one that I use daily and had not had this problem before.
Will try another browser and report back. Thanks

O.K., I booted the dial up computer into Win 7 and connected to the internet, then went to the computer that is having the problem, fired up IE and searched for Google Chrome and the page did not load right. On the Chrome download page, the image that they have of YouTube was distorted. I refreshed, and it was still distorted. So, I rebooted the dial up computer into XP, connected to the internet and went back to my other computer and refreshed the page again. Still distorted. I closed IE and ran CCleaner which cleared the cache and cookies. Restarted IE performed the same search and page loads fine. (Still booted into XP on the dial up machine while I done this). So the problem only occurs when the dial up computer is booted into Windows 7 and doesn't go away until I use XP to connect to the internet and then clear the browser cache. Now, my daughter says that her computer (Win 7 Ult 64 bit), is starting to experience the exact same problem. Loads web pages fine when the XP system is connected, but has errors on web pages when Win 7 is used the make the internet connection. Something that I have not tried yet is to bring up a browser on the actual machine that connects to the internet to see how it acts. Will do that next.

Booted the dial up computer into Win 7, connected to the internet and fired up my browser on it,(Palemoon). No problems at all when loading web pages. I loaded some web sites on my wife's computer (Win 7 Pro 64 bit) and had no problems. My daughter is not having any more problems at this time. Checked my Ubuntu machines and they load pages just fine. Went to my main computer that was having the problem to begin with, and it is loading pages fine for now.
Will continue to test to see if problem returns.

Well, was playing around and checking out different web sites and they were loading just fine, until I was loading a page from Newegg about a 72 hour sale and it seemed to load slower than normal and had some distorted images. Thinking about getting a new NIC for the dial up computer and see if that makes a difference. The only idea I can come up with is since the NIC I have installed now is so old that the drivers may not be playing nice with Win 7, but they are fine with XP. Just a guess.

Progress! I had a cheapo Encore NIC that I had bought a year or two ago, and installed it. Noticed some improvement. Now just getting a distorted image on a web page very rarely. Win 7 did not automatically install the drivers, and drivers would not install from the disc that came with it. Went to the website and installed latest drivers. So, now I'm thinking I need to get a newer nic that will be detected by Win 7 when I boot up and hopefully will play nice.
Maybe they will get broadband along this stretch of highway before I die !!

please don't make so many posts, just edit your originals.

congrats on the fix
