I have so many hard drives. They probably all worked when I took them out. Most are from Laptops. In the course of screwing with them, they have all become invisible to my BIOS. Some are not invisible under diskpart. I imagine it is probably real possible to kill them completely, but before I leave them for dead, are there any guides on how to save one?
TIA!

Are you looking to save data? If not, there are any number of partitioning tools. I like gparted.

Just for giggles, disconnect all drives. Just connect the one drive you are working on and load the USB W10 install. See if it sees it. Then delete the partitions if it does

Usually if Diskpart can't see it it's toast. But I suspect your native driver is messed up

If you dont have a W10 install, you can make one at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

I took them out from older laptops and some desktops. Some I rebuilt, some I took apart just because and some I was trying to fix. Putting them back is not an option.

I doubt it has anything to do with the native driver on my computer. I had a RAID array crash about 60 days ago. Or do you mean the native driver on the HDD I am trying to reuse?

I am not looking to save the data that is on them. I am pretty sure that is all gone. I am trying to save the hard drives to use for gaming or streaming or because I can have 7 HDD's and why not? I mentioned diskpart because it sees some where BIOS does not and I wanna know how come?

“Probably” worked, or did? You’re talking about 7 different hard drives — we’ll need a better idea of what each of them went through, individually, to isolate issues.

How did you screw with them? There could be so many different explanations for their disappearance, especially if they were all working before... Anything from driving too many off of a SATA PSU cable, a failing motherboard header, a bad cable, messing with mount options or drive settings — never mind issues with the drives themselves.

You can try Gparted it's small free linux/win program and sometimes you can recover lost partition and certain errors...GL

Some I rebuilt, some I took apart just because and some I was trying to fix.
1. you need some reasonably hi tech equipment to rebuild Hard Disks >>> (not a home or shop procedure)
2. just replacing logic board >>>999 times out of 1000 won't work ( Board and firmware difference).
3. if they are not detected in bios
you just have a collection of Scrap ( probably)

Sorry, I must not have been clear. I did not take the HDD's apart, I took computers apart and harvested the HDD's that did work. I have since swapped them in and out and screwed with them in windows so now that they seem to be screwed up. If I screwed them up using windows, logic dictates that I should be able to unscrew them up. Problem is, I was/am trying to learn and IDK what I did to any of them. IIRC I was trying to format them and screw with the partitions using disk management. (I had to pause and remember how I screwed them up and what I was trying to do with them at the time). I also remember exploring the file types.
They were used when I got them and I don't expect to be able to use them for more than storage. I currently Have like 5 or 6 hard drives that I have screwed up . If some or all of them are just dead I am not out anything, but I am not ready to toss them just yet.

After much hard work remembering, I remembered what I was doing when I screwed them up!
I was using the Disk management tool(?) to try to format them. I think I was trying to remove partitions since I wasn't going to use them for operating systems anymore, AND I was exploring file types.
I say probably worked as I don't recall keeping any bad ones.
Sorry it took so long to get back to you, my thinker is slow and needs an update.

Did you create an image drive with something like PowerISO?

Not for this. I wasn't trying to image them. I was trying to un image them...I guess.
I was trying to take the O.S. off and remove the partition for a straight 500GB (ok, 480Gb) of pure storage

Just as an update, I plugged each hared drive in and turned on a test machine. Each hard drive has vibration when turned on and no vibration when turned off, so it seems like they at least spin up. Now to remember what I did to them...

Guys, I guess I made a mistake. Too many blows to the head or something.
The hard drives all seem to work. I must have tossed out the ones that don't.
I will google the info I need.
