I got 2 of these processes running after installing ATI driver and CCC. I believe that 1 of them is the ATI Hot Key Poller service and the other is the driver file, is this needed or i can disable it in Services?

It's used to switch between 2D and 3D mode. If you want it to happen automatically, keep it. If you want to control clock states manually using ATITool or similar, you can disable them.

ok, a little confusion here. As panchoman said its in system32 folder and its an ATI External Event Utility EXE Module. But i'm only seeing 1 of them in system32 yet Process Explorer and Task Manager says 2 are running. Perhaps one of them is for switching between 2 and 3D as Wile said. MOM.exe and CCC.exe are also present, BTW.

Also, 2 services added after install of ATI driver package, ATI Hot Key Poller and ATI Smart, both are set to Auto by default but only the first one is running also by default. Whats the need for the hot key service?

Edit: found the answer to second question: the hot key thing is for overclocking via AMD Overdrive, if using another tool it can be turned off. I think this is what Wile was referring to.

Shoot, I'm still a bit confused.

I have tray tools going, and I do use hotkeys now and again; but I don't need the 2d/3d clock switching.

Which evxx is it?
