Is gmail slow for anyone else when using an email client?

I access gmail through the Windows Live Mail client on Windows 10, and over the last few days it has been extremely slow, to the point it can take 5-10 minutes to check for mail. Google's status page says gmail and all other google services are working normally. Accessing it via the web is normal and fast too. There is nothing wrong with my internet connection as everything else works normally.

I tried changing the app specific password because I read that doing that can sometimes fix speed related problems, but it made no difference.

I assumed it was a temporary problem at their end, but as the days go by and it remains the same, I'm wondering if it's something at my end after all.

I know the client I am using is not officially supported on Windows 10, so maybe that's got something to do with it. However, it's worked fine for years until now.

The Windows Live Mail client will give you more and more problems as time goes on, I used to use it a couple of years ago as well but even then it was old and outdated and I have since replaced it with other alternatives.
And no, there are no problems for me. It takes less than a second to check for mails using w10s outlook client.

Funnily enough, just now it worked normally. There seems to be some weird intermittent problem with it. Most of the time over the last few days it's been as slow as molasses. I already checked to see if my internet connection was just maxed out or something and it wasn't being used for anything else so it isn't that.

Yes, if the problem persists I will have to change client and see if that fixes it. The one Windows 10 comes with is not to my liking at all, too 'Fisher-Price' and everything is so big and dumbed down like it's made for a tablet or phone.

Agreed, i really liked the design of the old classic Windows live mail. Simple, easy to read and easy to use.
Closest to that I got was eMclient so far I think.

It's back to normal today so looks like was a problem at their end after all.
