Hello everybody, up until yesterday i was able to play with no issues whatsoever, however today i tried playing fortnite and after like 4 hours of gaming my pc started giving me some graphics glitches and big lag spikes.
I ignored the first lag spike scince i know they can be common and i kept playing.
However after 30 minutes the lag spike got worse and my game dropped to 3 fps and 500 constant ping, so i decided to alt+f4 the game and shut off my computer worried because it might have been a temperature issue (it was like 34 degrees celcius outside).
After letting it rest for like 8 hours i booted up the pc again but this time, BiOS didnt show up and instead i got this black screen for like 5 minutes and then windows started.
I did some research myself and found out that a Fried Cpu might cause the BiOS not to show up on boot
Also i feel like my pc is struggling to boot up, like it didnt take that long before
I can use the computer with no problem for other thing like being in a call or using google so i dont know exactly what it could be
I also updated graphic's card driver and it didnt fix it
I read you all and thanks for the help!

If the CPU is fried it wouldn't boot at all.

Please fill out your PC specs.

Fast money is on power supply. Or battery if this is a laptop.

I'd avoid using the computer for the time being.

If it can boot into windows then the BIOS still works.

The long wait maybe related to you forcing shutdown. It may do component checks or windows doing chkdisk or something similar in the background, but I'm not sure why that's hidden from you.

- CPU: Pentium g4560 3.5ghz
- GPU: Radeon RX 470 4gb strix
- PSU: Seasonic 620W 80 Plus bronze
- RAM: 8gb
- Motherboard: MSI B250M Gaming Pro

it is as simple as reflashing your bios it is corrupt make sure ther is a new updated bios on your mothercoard site if not just flash with your current version it will be avalible on there website just make sure you follow instructions right down to the point other wise it will be a pain but even then there is no way it is the power supply. also since windows does boot do not flash from the windows enviorment it has to be booted from just the bios file there will also be 2 or 3 more files but you dont need them that is to flash from windows and your bios is in bad shape you would really f**k it up that way as windows will be unstable. this should fix 50/50 shot you have to try ill bet it works may take some time just keep at it and google how your perticular bios flashes probale have to rename bios to maufacture name .rom or .bin.
good luck and i will tell you i have been doing this for 30 years and that is your next step who ever said if windows boots your bios is there but it is corrupt... was right!!!! hope this helps you. if not post what happens and if i see it i have other ideas as i have never not been able to bring any pc i have owned back to life lolo. good luck bud.....ps your power supply needs to be plus gold or platnium and 850 watts your power supply is a cheap a** bronze single rail if you over clock it will burn baby.

My PSU has been giving me some issues before so i would go with that, i just cant change it yet because i graduate this year and i wanted to finish school before working to replace it.

Yeah its honestly kinda weird, the BiOS screen just completly vanished

I would flip the rocker switch on the psu to kill its power, then pull the cmos battery for a minute or two

Oh i see, never messed around with BiOS before, any tips on how i can do this?

My motherboard (msi b250m gaming pro) has a button to clear the cmos, reseting the bios settings to default, i was wondering if it is safe to just press that or in my circumstances will doing this cause any damage to my pc? Maybe bricking the motherboard?

Pull the ac cable out, then take out the cmos battery for 30 seconds and put it back in. Connect to ac. Start the computer.
- Boot with only bare parts (hdd and ssd disconnected, only 1 stick of ram in slot 1, take out the rx 470 and hook the monitor to igpu.
- If you still get a long (more than 30 seconds) post with black screen, reflash the bios
- If flashing the bios doesnt fix the iisue, try with different ram, psu and cpu

btw G4560 is a really weak cpu, and was possibly the cause of the fps stutter you mentioned.
For a RX 470, ideally you need a i7 6700 (or a i5 7600k @5ghz, but sadly you cant do that on a b250 mobo).

Plug the diagnostic speaker in the FP header and see if the board produces beep codes.
In order of issues the board will report
Cpu
Memory
Vga
Boot device.

There is a buried thread here with a beep code list, unfortunately it isn't deserving to be stickied for whatever reason. I'll try to find it now for you.

Ah yes, found it.
General AMI post codes, look at AMI tab.

Oh i just pulled the cmos battery out and was wating a little, why do i need to boot the computer only with 1 stick of ram and igpu?
Also i only have 1 hdd of 1 tb of storage where i have everything, do i also unplug that ?
In case the BiOS works normally, do i just turn off the pc and plug everything back?

yes, unplug everything you can, to see if you get a proper (5-10 seconds) boot (from pressing the poiwer button till you see the bios image on the screen.

yes, 0 hdd/ssd attached (faulty drive could cause long post times), and 1 ram because its the bare minimum
yes, take out the 470. The intel igpu comes in handy.

Anything else i should know before doing it?
Like what could happen and what to do next?
Thanks for the help

If BIOS shows up on display, good. Then use M-Flash to update the BIOS to latest, reboot, check that it POSTs and have access to BIOS. Power down. Reconnect the rest of the stuff.

M-flash

Alright so, after pulling off the cmos waiting for some minutes and putting it back on, i still have no BiOS when powering on the computer

Something strange that i noticed is that the first time i power the computer after turning off the PSU, im greeted with a black screen that never goes away, however if i restart during that black screen, it will boot up windows with no Bios.

Did you try the iGPU?
Oh right i forgot bout that, do i plug the hdmi cable to the motherboard?

Quick note: my pc does detect the rx 470 and it works completley fine so i dont know what it could be

HDMI-DVI adapter plug. Not sure if that board has a connector for HDMI. Or just use a DVI cable btwn monitor and motherboard.

Edit: seems it has HDMI socket

Circling back around to this.
My PSU has been giving me some issues before so i would go with that

While you are inside the case with everything depowered. Take a few minutes to fully unplug all of the board connections and carefully inspect male and female connectors. Then pay extra good attention to verifying they are reseated correctly. Take a few minutes to also inspect the cable runs back to the psu for any pinched or frayed wires. A grounding issue would explain much here.

I'm not yet convinced the solid process of elimination being conducted will fail to show a psu or board power issue that may be physically verifiable. A loose connection or pin not fully making contact.

Just turned off the pc, changed the hdmi cable to the motherboard and again, just a black screen.

Next step then.

Do follow up on my previous post beforehand. :)
