I was thinking of moving from x79 to x99, I found the xeon e5 2620 v3 and xeon e5 2640 v3 quite interesting. I found ram ecc ddr3 memory a good option, but are these models compatible with ddr3 ecc?

You'll be needing DDR4 for X99 - X79 was the last board to support DDR3 from the 'X' series.

If it works

DDR4 only. V2 supported DDR3 but V3 is DDR4.
