Is there a way to improve graphics in an old DX9.0c game?

VR HMD I live in real reality and don't need a virtual one.
Software Windows 11 / 10 / 8
Benchmark Scores My PC can run Crysis. Do I really need more than that?
The game in question is FIFA 09. The GPU in question is RX 6700 XT so I enabled everything I could enable in the Adrenalin software. It improved my experience but not significantly enough.

To note:
• The game cannot run at resolutions higher than 1920x1080 properly. UI gets destroyed at 1440p and beyond.
• I already tried FSR via Adrenalin to make the game run "upscaled" from 3200x1800 to 4K (despite it actually running 1080p!) but it made the game crash intermittently. Not an option anymore, my 4K display is currently unavailable (gave it to my bro).
• ReShade had been used but supersampling doesn't do anything in this particular game. No idea why.

I have a lot of calculating power to spare but I'm puzzled as to how. Is there any software compatible with AMD GPUs that can make additional difference? Windows 11 if that is relevant.

You didn't mention your target resolution, so I must assume you're down to the MSi G2712 and your game runs fine at 1080, but you just want it to look "better"?

Normally you would use VSR, to trick the game into thinking you have a 2k or 4k monitor and render at higher resolution. If the UI is broken doing this, then I would expect the same behavior from any other software such as Lossless Scaling.

I think you meant RSR, which allows you to select 1080 in the game, and upscales it to your monitor's native resolution.

You might check for mods, or consider a newer version that supports resolution greater than 1080.
Good luck.

It's doubtful that the game would render correctly over 1080p, it IS from 2009 after all. Your only option is to track down a mod, or make one yourself, that allows higher rez gaming.

Correct.

Also correct.

The thing is I made my custom mod with dozens of teams and it's a real pain in the ass to clone it to whatever newer game, be it FIFA or PES.
to trick the game into thinking you have a 2k or 4k monitor and render at higher resolution
It can't be tricked this way, it has resolutions imprinted directly into the executable so if I hex it I can choose whatever resolution but resolutions greater than 1920x1080, first and foremost, don't improve graphics for some weird reason, and secondly, they ruin the UI.
Lossless Scaling.
I thought about purchasing it but I don't even have a Steam account lmao (I own a physical FIFA 09 copy). What makes matters worse is that I'm in Russia and Steam is borderline unusable from here. I'll need to fake my location and use foreign banking in order to pay for stuff. Suboptimal.

Not a thing, checked multiple times.

Its called shader packs

You also have a bunch of settings to use for an each game under advanced column, that are mostly simple overrides for DX9 games specifically.
Texture filtering quality to high, AA to 8x, method to supersampling, AF to 16x, could sometimes make a world of difference.

Image sharpening under graphics column could benefit some blurry scenarios, as well as display color enhancement to vivid under display column, for some bland, washed out color games.

@Veseleil like I said, I already enabled everything in Adrenalin. I need a 3rd party utility.

Oh, my bad, I haven't even noticed who is the OP, and I have you on my ignore list. Ok, you're off the list now. :D

I have you on my ignore list
I love it how people I have never even talked to blacklist me for no apparent reason. Not the first time.

It's probably just remnants from the old times I've found you annoying for some reason.

@Veseleil, sure, I can be annoying from time to time.
@LabRat 891, I didn't achieve what I wanted with ReShade. Will try ENB some time later and report back.

How about going for a giga-scuffed solution to, uh, potentially improve the graphics?
Yes, it’s an RT addition to ReShade. Yes, it works on 9.0c. Yes, it’s technically “paid” via creators Patreon, but I am sure… alternative… sources can be found.
If unwilling to be fucked, there is a less sophisticated non-RT based solution from the same dev that is free.

I use DXVK on Mount & Blade Warband which translates DirectX 9 games to Vulkan. Watch the colours look vivid with it.
Put these files:
d3d9.dll
dxgi.dll
Beside the game's executable. If the game is x32 bit then use the ones inside that folder.
Launch the game (or the game launcher)

I want textures and models more HQ, not enhanced lighting.
You haven’t specified that in the OP and I have unfortunately misplaced my crystal ball recently. What you want isn’t feasible - that would require a full replacement for said models and textures (that’s how graphical assets work) and I highly doubt anyone bothered making such a mod for a 15 year old annual EA sports slop for obvious reasons.

And no, increasing resolution doesn’t actually make models and textures “more HQ”, so your previous questions/attempts also wouldn’t achieve that effect. At this point just say that what you ACTUALLY want is just for the game to run at higher than 1080p internal resolution through whatever means necessary. But, unfortunately, if the 2D UI elements are rendered at a static res without any internal mechanism for scaling (which is dogshit programming, but it is what it is), then you are straight up SOL. Again, unless someone managed to hack in a full UI replacement and, again, that is unlikely to put it mildly for the same reason as stated above. Sorry.

so your previous questions/attempts also wouldn’t achieve that effect.
Enabling supersampling in Adrenalin achieved what I wanted but not to the extent I wanted.

Morphological AA makes matters worse, however.

Does a way to apply AA greater than 8xEQ exist?

@Macro Device
Really not sure about that on Radeon. On NV you would just use the CP to force high levels of SGSSAA and that would be that, but no such equivalent exists on AMD toy knowledge.
