- 160gb hdd 7200rpm, 2mb cache (slow)
- 512mb ram
- x700pro pci-express
- 300watt bestec psu (fried after a month)
- 15 inch LCD emachine monitor (put face 1 inch see tiny lines across screen)
- mouse+keyboard
- basic 2 piece speaker
- windows xp home

for 480.00 usd grand total. good or bad deal?

deal 2:
bought refurbish sapphire X850 XT pci-express back in november 2006. sealed original box set, everything included, smell so fresh and so clean, looks like never been used. for 111.111 usd grand total. is it a good deal for the time I bought it? nov 2006? I mostly play mmos.

I have to agree with dan here. Your wasting time (time is money) dwelling on the past.

But yeah, Deal 1 was a ripoff.
Nah, early 2006 that deal was about right for a pre-built.

I was comparing to a custom build.
That was probably only a few dollars more than a custom with the same specs. The A64s were expensive back then. hell, my X2 3800+ cost $150 in late Aug of last year. Just 2 weeks before I bought it, it was $350. They dropped it just prior to the release of Core 2. (Should've clued me in on Core 2's potential. lol)

Ahk. I wasnt particularly sure about cpu. Ive never bothered with AMD, though some of their hardware is definately cheap.

And they kicked Intel's arse for quite some time. :)

EDIT: At least in gaming..

EDIT2: Although I'm sure someone will tell me how Intel was superior when it comes to something something. :p

A/V encoding. lol

deal 1 is a complete rip. its an emachine. I could take a dump in it and it would quadruple its value.
