Bump for a good guy. Still surprised no one has snagged one of these server combos for a nice cheap gaming rig or something of the sort.

I had that exact same board with two E5620 in it. It was great and worked fine till i decided to make a custom case for it.

Stupidly i used my metal ruler to take measurements and just out of the corner of my eye i watched my dogs' tail flick the ruler along my work area, under the board and short out the back of the 24 pin connector.

Yes, they are an extended ATX case. And actually the motherboards 2 have odd position mounting holes that I have some of them little snap in plastic standoffs on.

fOh what a nice server´s you got. Those CPU´s in the first server are like mine I7 920 just lower clokket than mine but not by much. Does that server board support overclokking? Properly not since it a standart Intel board.

A tip for a potential bayer is to swap those two low clokket Quad xeon´s out and sell them. After that find two higher clokket six core Xeons and swap in the board and you will have a 12 core/24 threaded beast with a clock speed from 2,4 GHz base clock and up to 3,46 GHz base clock on 12 cores depending on what xeon you chose. Yes thats right 12 core at atleast up to 3,46 GHz with out overclock.

if i had to chose a Xeon model it would be the Xeon® Processor X5680 because it is hign clokket stock and they can be found on ebay for not to much money and i dont think that intel server board can overclock so getting a hign stock clokket xeon is the bedst choise in my mind.

So in short you can get 12 cores/24 threads from around 80 USD dollars + shipping and up depending on your choise of xeon model + it you sell the old Quad xeons that can take some of the difference aswell.

Good look with the sale by the way. I cant belive no one all ready has grabbed those server´s. If i just had the use for one of the server´s, i would had grabbed one and swapped two six core xeons in it. But hope this info can help boost your sale and a potential bayer think twice before dropping baying these server. LGA 1366 socket still rocks.

I'm not sure what all cases accept Extended ATX motherboards. I know that some of the big Corsair's do. I think there is a hand full that Cooler Master has as well. Jeez, I think that Cooler Master XB? cube accepts EATX boards.

You are welcome my friend . A shame those mother boards cant overclock. Imagine 12 cores at 4 GHz+, that would have been one serious mean crunching machine

If i where referring to stingers rig yes it would be 8 cores/16 threads. But im not. i referring to my older post in #87 about get two 6 core Xeon´s and replace them with the two quad Xeon´s it has know.

By doing that you will get 4 cores and 8 threads more or 12 cores/24 threads in total + depending on what 6 core xeon the next owner gets a potential for up to 1 GHz more clock speed on each core also aswell with out overclock the CPU's.
