So my lappy uses 200 pin Sodimm DDR1 pc400. I see that DDR2 Sodimm's are 200 pins as well, could they be used since they are the same pin connections but just run at a lower speed? Any thoughts?

Quick answser: Nope...

Even if both has 200pin, the notch location is different between the two (even when they don't look like it, but up close...they are).

DDR2 on top, DDR1 on bottom.

No they are not interchangable, the memory addresses are diffrent, as well as the slopts are ~1mm diffrent.

did you check in CPUZ what kind of memory it was, as i ran into a situation with a laptop that should have had DDR1 and it turned out to be a weird speed of DDR2...
