Really obnoxious problem here so any help is great help.
My laptop (msi - 1761) randomly restarts. And when i say random i really do mean random. Sometimes i will go a couple days of heavy gaming with no problem, other times im just browsing the internet and get these restarts. Now these aren't your normal restarts. When the laptop spazzez out it shuts down like i powered it off. Everything goes black, lights off, everything. Then it turns itself back on. Doesn't say anything during boot. Windows starts up just fine as if nothing happend.
Back history - i've ran a RAM check, it all comes out OK. A hardrive check and all comes out OK. I thought at one point something with windows had corrupted, so i formatted my HD and within 5 minutes of a clean copy of windows being installed it restarted.
TEMPS - i've ran a couple programs that keep track of booth cpu and gpu temps. Range between 40-80c. For example, skyrim plays around 81c. Turned the game off and let it sit for an hour or so, turned the game back on, laptop restarted at 68c. So its not a temp related problem.
The laptop has never restarted on just battery. It has only happened when the adapter is plugged in. I've had the adapter checked and it is sending its 19.5v just fine. However im thinking the brick is bad.
in my event viewer im not seeing anything crash before my laptop restarts. I do get this critical thing though
"Event 41, Kernel-Power : The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."
I just want to see if anyone else has had this problem and if there is a fix that wont cost me $60-80 for a new adapter.
I've been back and forth with xoticpc tech guys, nice guys, very knowledgeable, but we couldn't figure it out. Thanks for taking a look. Hope to get this figured out.
