hey guys...

im thinking of a more elaborate LCD setup.

i want to use multiple LCDs for one desktop.

my first question is...

how many LCDs does it take to have a 16:9/16:10 aspect ratio if i rotate them to vertical orientation?

i might be wrong, but i think 3 is a bit less and 4 is a bit more then 16:9

trick question?

adding more monitors wont change the aspect ratio from 10:16 or 9:16. since your incressing both sides by the same amount.

at work we have 3 NEC 24"s but they seem kinda crappy if im not mistaken.

they are all brand new but are 8000:1 contrast ratio and have 14ms response time.

thats crappy right?

is samsung still really good? i can get a sick deal on 3-5 samsung 22"s with 50000:1 contrast with 5ms response time.

14ms is too slow for fast paced games... less then 8 ms is pritty good .. less then 5 is great. (depends on how they messure it...)

as for contrast ratio... the dynamic value is pretty worthless.... there all likely to have a 1000:1 static ratio....
AFAIK samsung still leads LCDs in terms of reliability and performance.

your eyes/brain is too slow :P anything above 12ms causes some pretty bad ghosting.

16:10 = 1,6
portrait = 10:16 = 0,625

3x1 portrait = 3x 0.625 = 1,875

so 3x1p = 18,75:10

if you use 16:9 screens in 3x1p mode
you will get 16,88:10 aspect ratio

is there anyway to split them 50/50 for 2 pcs? EX: like video game consoles do

huh, like split screen gaming?

tbh I dont think so.. I've never used a monitor that allowed two inputs to be shown at the same time in split screen.

Like just about everything you do I'm very keen to see how this all works out, maybe try 3x27" 1080p screens side by side vertically. that would be frikken bonkers.

Intend to connect these to the mega-rig?

i was thinking 3 24's @ 1920 x 1200

that would just as duniek said, 16.88:10

true that would keep you the closest to 16:9 as possible, however I dont know about the US, but it is frikken' hard to find 1920x1200 monitors in Australia now, 1080p monitors have swamped the market.

i work at a distro center so i have access to tons of stuff. no worries.

i can ship you something if you need. you have to pay shipping though.

I might just take you up on that someday :toast:

my biggest ratio which I made for game was 144:10 :D

I guess split screen will be impossible for 3x1 config @ 2xPCs

easier will be buy 2x big TVs

will the nvidia 3dvision driver work with 2 lcds?

nonono... its 3x1 16:9 screens for 16.875:10

so 1920x1080.... or 2048x1152 :)

1920x1080 inverted x 3 = 3240x1920

3240/1920 = 1.6875

gives same ratio for any 16:9 screens

for 16:10

1920x 1200 inverted x 3 = 3600x1920

3600/1920 = 1.875

so 18.75:10

same for any 16:10

So how do I get games to run in both of my lcds?

I'm sorry but I don't understand what you mean by that... bear with me, English is my 3rd language, comprehension is not my strenght
