LED vs DLP projector

I currently have a DLP projector, 2000 lumens projecting roughly 300cm at 3.5 m distance. The room is mostly dark when I use it.
I want to replace it with a LED projector as it'll make less noise and use a lot less power. Most affordable LED projectors give 120-150 lumens, how does this compare to the DLP in a mostly dark room at 3.5 meters? Of course it could be an option to mount the new beamer on the ceiling if distance is the problem.

Would I be happy with 120-150 lumens from a LED beamer?

HD ready, < €500. Not bad at all. Beats getting one directly from China for a similar price. The question remains though, are 500, or even 150 lumens enough?

Edit: nm, it's DLP. I want LED.

That is an LED projector--look again. Remember that the LED's are just the light source--you still need either a DLP or LCD panel/system in front of the LED's to construct the picture.

Wait a min, I thought all the newer LED projectors used LCD instead of DLP. Not sure where I got that assumption from though, a quick Google doesn't exclude LED+DLP.

That changes quite some things, as I excluded DLP from my search before. It also makes the thread title wrong. Still stuck with the same question though, how many lumens make me happy?

Edit: Odd, checking prices again, largest local pricewatch actual lists LED, DLP and LCD as filters. Perhaps that crawled into my mind somehow.
