Hey guys, I just recently put together a sort-of-legacy PC (Windows 95... ECS P6VEM3 with pentium 1.1ghz, put in my old voodoo3, and a sound blaster live.. hoping to find an awe 64 instead, i know i have one around here somewhere!).

Anyway, all I'm trying to do is setup the network/internet on windows 95 using tcp/ip. I have linksys wrt54g router. I think the part that's stumping me is finding out my host name.

open up the cmd prompt and type "hostname" without the " of course ;)

Well I'm still stumped. I forgot to put in the gateway options and tried that with 192.168.1.1 like what it's suppose to be. That didn't help, and I still can't connect to the internet. What am I suppose to do with DNS? I put in the DNS options, but hostname can be whatever you want it to be, right ?

Linux would be easier

Leave DNS on auto...Depending on what router you have your gateway could also be 192.168.0.1
also, do you have another computer thats successfully connected to that router?.. have a look at its settings.
Can you login & see the routers homepage by going to 192.168.0.1/ 192.168.1.1 from within your web browser?
Could also be that your NIC is broken perhaps as you did say its old gear.
