Hello!

Some time ago, I decided to switch the operating system on my older HP Pavilion touchscreen laptop from Windows 11 to Linux Mint. My familiarity with Linux has been limited, mostly casual dabbling, but this transition was motivated by a deeper interest build my skills on this platform.

However, I've encountered a persistent issue related to Wi-Fi. After connecting to my network, the connection remains stable for only about five minutes. Even when I use the Bash terminal for downloads, the connection might just hold up long enough to complete the download, but that's more the exception than the rule. Has anyone ever run into this kind of issue? I'm wondering if I should just get another drive and just partition it and put Linux on my main rig

You posted without mentioning hw specs, hw specs are not filled either... we don't know what wifi card it even is?

Do you think we are fortune tellers?

This has always happened to me on Linux, but only certain networks. My parents' home network, constant disconnects - my own router, no issue. I'd guess there's something you can do to configure your router to play nice with your laptop.

In the meantime, just use a download manager so you can save download progress and resume later. It's not gonna stop it from being annoying, but it should make that process functional.

LOL!! Used that back in the dialup days!.... :D

Haven't used it in decades...

Believe it or not, but many Asian companies still imply using them because of their poor network...

Either way, this thread is utter rubbish about nothing as nobody had given specs. As usual.
