Hi,

I'm no expert in this area, I'm looking for a video conversion software that will allow me to convert my files into compatible videos to put on my iphone to watch later...

The problem is I've found quite a load of software, and none seem to work properly... Lots of them need you to specify the video resolution/size/sound format to output the new file into...

I'm looking for a software built by people smart enough to give us something that detects the sound format and video size of the original file and uses that to know what parameters to use for video conversion...

My video files are .mkv btw

I would have thought I could use the video conversion tools that come with CCC from AMD... but when I select my .mkv files... CCC doesn't seem to recognize it as a convertible file...

Thx for the tip about "freemake video converter" It's working right now...

This one sounds too good to be true; I'll try it though.

i've been using it for months now, seems to work really well on eveything :)

There is no magical converter that detects everything. Anything that auto detects either has minimal inputs, or almost no outputs.

That said, there are a few programs I use:
Hand Brake
Media Coder

The former has ipod presets, and will convert most initial forms of video with little work. The later requires some knowledge, but will do pretty much anything.
