I came into a little extra money and I need to upgrade a bit... I need a 22" wide lcd monitor suitable for gaming, the 24" ones still seem pricey. I've been looking at benq ect but just not sure. 300+ bucks is ok as long as it can game! I have zero experience with lcds so I not sure where to start. Also, I'd like to go 8 gigs of ddr 1066 ram if I can find a matched set somewhere. If there's enough money, I might even go intel motherboard and maybe an e8500? I need to figure out a good intel chipset and I'd like to get a motherboard with heat pipe cooling ect... Also I might go for a 260gtx and sell this 9800gtx if it's still worth anything! So I'm thinking a corsair tx750 is in order? Any thoughts appreciated to help me spend a grand or so....

Buy a Samsung...I can speak for the 2232gw, under 300$ and an excellent screen.

Darn ncix, the best true 2ms samsung they have listed is the t220 at $379, the 2253bw shows 5ms, 2ms whatever that means....

i know its sad, but i have the 22inch dell listed here for 269 with free shipping, i play lots of games, and its a pretty nice monitor i paid like 340 for this thing at staples though before i realized i could get it at dell for 100 bucks less, after taxes... but for 269 bucks dude, its pretty nice.

free shipping though on all the monitors man.

I'm probably going to have to shop from ncix being in Canada and all, gawd I wish we had newegg. Just found an LG W2242TQ-BF for about $279, it's 2ms as well. Do LG make half decent monitors?

I have the LG 204WT (20.1) widescreen LCD. Bought it just over 2years ago and it's terrfic ! LG does a really good job with LCD monitors.
I have it connected with a DVI cable which gives a cristal clear picture. No ghosting or back-light bleeding. I didn't have one dead or stuck pixel and LG's normally have a very high true contrast ratio and fast response times.
Mine was so bright when I first set it up, I had to turn it down.
When I decide to upgrade to a larger monitor...LG will be at the top of my list....Only con about it was the fact it didn't come with a DVI cable included in the retail package...had to spend about another 10-12 dollars.
Good luck on whatever brand you choose, but as for LG monitors, I will highly recommend them.......

If you are not a fan of the glossy crap but yet want a high contrast I would suggest this one from Acer, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009145. I am VERY, VERY happy with mine and not one dead pixel or issue in almost a year. The primary thing I use this for is gaming and really the only issue I would say I've noticed is ghosting but it's not all the time and I have to turn the lights out and be in a dark lighting part of the game to really notice. I also watch movies and am very happy with the results. It's like my 3870's and this LCD were made for each other, AAAWWWW!! I'm not sure if/where in Canada you can pick this up.

Memory wise I've only tried Crucial Ballistix and OCZ Reapers. I was happier with the Ballistix than the Reapers due to the Ballistix OC'd much better than the Reapers cause of the DB9's but good luck finding them now. The Reapers, for the price, are not bad and I currently run my DDR2 800 4Gb set @ 1067 5-5-5-15 timings. Not going to win any rewards for that but I'm happy with them.

The Corsair 750 PSU is a champ in my book. Mine was running, til I took her apart, a Phenom 9850 BE @ 2.81Ghz, 2x 3870's in CF, 2 WD Raptor 150's, Seagate 500Gb, two Lite-On 20x Burners, X-fi Fatality, Wireless N card, and 6 120mm Antec Tri-Cool fans on high without any issues compared to my Nspire that couldn't handle shit!

I honestly haven't used Nvidia in quite sometime so I'll leave the recommendations to someone else on that one.

Why not get the E8400? Same cache size and I've seen many hit 4Ghz.

Looked at that acer, even though it's about same price on ncix it's only 5ms. Got to be 2ms true for gaming for what I've seen...
I may go the newer lg model...

I honestly couldn't tell between 2ms and 5ms but maybe @ 29 my eyes suck

I'm turning 48, think my eyes are so slow so I need faster lcd! And crucial and ocz are death on asus boards, I had to practically give away my last set of ballistix tracers because they just crapped out.. I think I want corsair dominator, but not sure....

May i suggest a 28" ? i know you said 24 but trust me for the size and RES it is a bargain. Mines came in at a cost of ÂŁ268
No need to reply just a suggestion! have a look and find the Hans G
its good :)

Thats actually not bad, if ncix had anything like that! Hans G is very good quality.

Newegg is coming to Canada and second you want to look for a monitor with 2ms response time and high contrast ratio.

Edit: Here is the link btw http://www.newegg.ca/

Well that lg I quoted was 2ms 8000:1 contrast.... guess it's good enough? I've heard there's different types of lcd techs used in displays as well, and some are regular cheap, and the others are tf? higher quality? Like I mentioned, never owned an lcd, know squat about them.....
And I now know I only want a 2ms with 5000:1 or better...

Finally understand that 2ms means g to g, not colour, which is 5ms on all better 22".. so I'm going for the samsung. Nice marketing ploy that 2ms claim, it's only for grey to grey, and most monitors can do it!
Also, I've settled on a 280gtx I think, might as well....

Sorry, don't mean to hijack but has anyone experience with Samsung 275T?
I do photo editing and a bit of game. I read reviews I search on net but would like any comment from people who has use it.

I've been running a Soyo Topaz S 24" widescreen since last christmas(santa was good to me) and I simply love the thing. 3ms response time, perfect picture clearity, natice resolution of 1920*1200 @60 mhz. You can get it right now for $319 here
