System Name Rude Boy? :)
Processor Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8400 @ 2.66GHz
Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R
Cooling x5 120mm x80mm w/ Blue lights :)
Memory 4GB DDR2 @ 1066MHz
Video Card(s) GeForce 9500GT 512MB
Storage 640GB WD Blue
Display(s) 20" Asus Black VH202T (1600x900)
Case COOLER MASTER RC-690-KKN1-GP
Okay, on the black friday before the last one, I bought a GeForce 9500 GT 512MB which was original price 75$ and I got it for 55$ this was a very good card for me, I had a crappy computer which ran windows XP it had 1.5 GB RAM and a very crappy single core processor. 7 Months ago the hard drive corrupted, Rather than just buying a new hard drive, I decided to custom build one, So I did. My current computer has a quad core processor with 4 gigs of ram running on windows 7, The video card isn't for me anymore :( I can barely run the saboteur on max with this video card....

I was looking into this : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127478

Would that help me run some games on max? I play the following games :

The Saboteur
Crysis Warhead
Batman : Arkham Asylum
CoD Modern Warfare 2
BioShock 2
Gears of war
Borderlands
Tom Clancys Rainbow Six Vegas 2
Tom Clancys End War
Mercenaries 2 : World in Flames

And I'm hoping to buy Bad Company 2 when It's released.

Will that card work for me? How much of a difference would the GTS 250 1 GB be in comparison to the 9500 GT 512mb?

I would like to run games at my resolution of 1600x900 I currently have to lower resolution to 1280x720 in order for me to reduce the lag.

Specs :

Processor : Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q8400 @ 2.66GHz
RAM : 4094MB RAM (Supposed to be 1066, But it's at 800MHz...)
OS : Windows 7 64 Bit
Current video Card : NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT 512MB
MotherBoard : GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R

Hope that's enough ^ if you need anything else, Just let me know.

Would be great if u could post ur system spec :p

anyways, u would see a big improvement from 9500gt to 250

edit: PSU?

The GTS250 will make a world of difference! Just to make sure, what power supply are you using and what monitor are you using? :)

HD5750 would be better option!!!! im just saying:pimp:

I don't have anything against ATI, But I don't like using there video cards lol Same goes for AMD I only use intel.

I have that PSU, and it's a beast. Easily powered my OCed Phenom II X4 955 and OCed 8800GT. As long as you weren't OCing a lot, a GTS250 would run easily on it, as would a Radeon HD5750 or a HD5770 (my choice, if I was buying a new card)

well if you have made up you mind already, then why did you even ask:confused:

Well I mean, Fine, I have never used ATI because I'm very freakin' confused with all those numbers, hahaha.

I'm willing to give them a try actually.... I'm looking into the ATI HD5770 as the above poster before you said.

Except, 160$ is a bit too steep for me D=

If the 5770 is out of your budget, the GTS250 will be just fine and will run with the rest of your system. For the games you list, you should be able to max them all out pretty well. :toast:

with ur spec, my suggestion for ur next upgrade should ur PSU ;) with that PSU u should run okay with 250gts

Could even go for a 4870, still capable of the latest games (console ports) and better than a GTS 250

No doubt about corsair but when start Ocing Cpu and GPU u gonna wish u got more juice, besides a very good psu will last u multiple builds

well i have already overclocked my CPU from 1.86 to 2.8ghz and thats quite a lot from an CPU that was only 1.86 stock.
I have only overclocked a bit on my 5750 though due to the fact i don't like hearing the fans going crazy.

Thanks guys! Oh and, About the upgrades, Well... This will be my computers last upgrade.... I'm planning on getting a new one in a year or so, this one will do with the new video card until then :)

well whatever card you get, when you build a new PC next year you can just buy another of that card and run it in crossfire/sli :) (or sell it to me if you get either a 5770 or gts250, i'm still deciding which to get, since i'll be doing just that next year, upgrading to a dual card capable mobo and dropping in a phenom II x4, of course buying one card this year lol, but in a couple weeks)

to geive you an idea of the performance of the 9500gt,... well that card is pretty much an 8600gt. with the 8600gt i was able to run crysis decently at med settings @ 800x600 on my pent. d oc to 3.5. I think i overclocked by 50mhz on the gpu... but anyway... i then upgraded to my 9600GT, which was able to run crysis on high at 1024x768 on the same system with an avg 25fps. now the 8600gt/9500gt has 32 processing units, and the 9600gt has 64. the GTS250 has 128. of course the 8600gt i had was only 256mb, and the 9600gt i have now is 512mb. and you can get a gts250 with 1gb for almost the same price as its 512mb version (depending on manufacturer)

i've just upgraded my rig (see specs) and i'll be loading crysis tonight and i'll let you know how fast it is with my current rig now (still the 9600gt)

I'm not saying the gts is going to be 4 times faster than the 9500gt, but it will surely be a world of difference. or an ati 5770, since its about as fast as the GTS250 (according to a game benchmark comparison at THG)
