Hi guys,
I've used AtiTool on my last 3 PCs with great success and I LOVE this program. However, my latest rig I just finished building 10 days ago has had a major issue for the past 5 days and until tonight, I was unable to pin down the cause. Let me first say that this problem has almost put me in an insane asylum
So 5 days ago, after getting my mobo/cpu/ram OCs down pat, I decided it was time to start on the GPUs (9800GTX SCs). I installed RivaT first and spent a few hours playing with it before downloading AtiTool. Next thing I know........my monitor (Samsung T240) just starts turning off and turning back on randomly and very frequently. It didn't happen right after installing AtiTool, so I didn't initially put two and two together. I initially thought my RAM OC was the cause. So to make a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng story short, after 3 days of round the clock working on fixes to no avail, I was 3 minutes from a total HDD wipe and decided to uninstall basically every program that was not totally necessary including 180.48 drivers, booted in safe and cleaned the hell out of it, and rebooted and installed the new beta NVIDIA drivers and vuwalaaa! Problem solved!!!
So I was under the assumption it had been faulty drivers even though I had cleaned those 180.48 and reinstalled them 5x during those 3 days - so I just figured the 180.84 was the savior.......until tonight.
Two hours ago, I got back to the step in my process that called for AtiTool and within 30 seconds of launching the tool and before I even got a chance to run the test........momnitor just shuts down again - I panic. I realize "its AtiTool!".
It took me 15 minutes to get it uninstalled because the screen was going black on me soooo much, but I finally did and problem is gone again. Funny thing is, the first go around, I installed the latest stable version and this time was the beta v4 release. Both times caused my monitor to go ballistic searching for a signal.
So I uninstalled and used a reg cleaner that I trust to wipe out any traces I could find, but then I used a regedit software and found 52 remaing traces of AtiTool in my registry despite havin cleaned out about 25 with that reg cleaner. I'm not the most comfortable person with registry, but if at all possible, I would like to remove any and all traces of AtiTool from my PC. If anyone has any feedback, comments, or advice, please lemme know. And thanks!
