make a software like GPU-Z

I want to make a software like GPU-Z, but i don't known how to get infomations of Graphics card (such as the number of stream processors). Are those interfaces provided by the NVIDIA or AMD?

Some are provided by the vendors, most you will have to figure out by disassembling drivers, bios, other software etc
