Marking Forums as Read Automatically

So, I was wondering if there was a way to turn off the forums automatically marking everything as read. Even if I just go to 'forums.techpowerup.com' and I close the window afterward, it saves that I'd been online and marks everything as read. I did some searching through the control panel as well as a general search of all topics on the issue, and I can't seem to find anything. In other words, if its a simple answer I am sorry.

Double click the green arrow next to the forum.

Ah yes, as I understand that's to mark the entire section as read without reading them. Where I'm hitting issues is if I check General Nonsense but don't have time to check the FS section. I close the window but when I come back, all threads that were new to when I last logged in are marked as read, even if I haven't read the couple day old ones. It gets kind of hard to keep track.
