I am thinking my trusty old Seasonic Prime 1200W 80+ Platinum has seen better days because even I can stress test my system with Aida64, 3DMark Firestrike and so on I don't get any BSOD or random reboots but I keep getting either blackscreens or reboot gaming any Rockstar Game I have :/

I cannot find anything in Windows 11 Pro Event Viewer expect these 2:
Event 41, Kernel-Power: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
Event 56, Application Popup:
The description for Event ID 56 from source Application Popup cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

ACPI
2

The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table.

Event 56 seem to be only related to Gigabyte motherboards but the Event 41, Kernel-Power have me worried with my power hungry system here as you can see in system specs.

I have already been browsing around and I can get a NZXT C850 80+ Gold on sale for £73.50 / 98.83USD / 87.41 EUR and the normal price is £112,96 / 151,90 USD / 134,34 EUR so this sounds like a really good deal since the NZXT C series is build on Seasonic's Focus 80+ Gold series PSU's but will 850Watt be enough for my system?

Because when I use https://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator they recommend a 734W PSU and https://seasonic.com/wattage-calculator recommend a 1000Watt PSU so which one is it?

Event 41, Kernel-Power means just there was no proper shutdown of the OS, if you press reset or plug the computer out of the wall while the system is running you will get the same error.
Not saying it's not the PSU, if you say it's old (t)rusty it would be probably smart to replace it :)

I'm not going to commit on whether you need a new PSU or not. You've been here longer than I have. You know the symptoms of a failing PSU. If the symptoms match what you are experiencing...

As for using a 850 watt PSU with your system, I wouldn't. I listed out your system on PCPartpicker, and it's wattage estimator had the system at over 700 watts. Yes, I know wattage calculators are not perfect, but with the value of your system, and from what I've read about how RTX 3000 cards can spike very high in wattage usage, I'd want at least 1000 watt PSU just to have a nice cushion in there.

Thanks @BarbaricSoul I know about the RTX 30 series spikes and I know my PSU is old but weird part is just that am not running everything default and still gets blackscreen/reboot doing gaming which is annoying.

It could also be the motherboard I suppose.

In these past 2 months yes, the only other game I been gaming is Hot Wheels Unleashed and my system have a weird issue when I turn on my monitors G-Sync compatability mode maybe it's just a Asus issue I do not know.

outervision doesn't sell PSUs.

3090 500 watts max i7-10700K 250 max (but really 125 gaming) and you got a lot of storage so ~50 watts = 800w/12v for 66.6 amps/.8 (headroom and whatever derating) for ~84 amps on the 12v rail is more than enough.

go figure, seasonic was far off for "worse case scenario" - you could get by with 800 watt (66.6amps) or 1000 (84amps) wouldn't be that much overkill.

I am not math geni here but but NZXT lists "+12V 70A (840W)" wouldn't this be fine?

yeah i really think so - my napkin math was max power at the same time - running prime AND kombuster (no furmark here!) at the same time. i did that w/old ivy maxwell rig and got ~550 watts but *just* gaming was ~330 max.

*srry for all the edits - its past my bedtime.

by chance, have you tried doing a full driver uninstall/reinstall using DDU?

It would be enough by the numbers, but you're not allowing much cushion for those voltage spikes. I still say go for a 1000 watts for piece of mind.

Yes I have tried DDU and I use NVCleanInstaller that @W1zzard has posted to get rid of Nvidia Experince and such I don't use it and I only use Nvidia Control Panel and drivers.

Even youtubers like Tech Yes City, Gamer's Nexus and Steve from Hardware unboxed say that a 850W should be fine using a RTX 3090 specially Bryan from TYC.

I'm not saying the 850 won't power your system. I'm just saying, if it was mine, I'd want a little more of a cushion. And since 1000 watts is the next step up from 850 watts, that would be my personal choice.

I get what you are saying it's just that a 1000W is double price then the NZXT C850 right now and it's money that I do not have laying around sadly.

I also been trying lately to trade my RTX 3090 for a RTX 3080/3080Ti or a RX 6800 XT for matter matter because I do not use the RTX 3090 to it's full level sadly evne I am gaming at 4K.

When I had my AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT Reference card it was fine no hiccups even with this system.

But sadly I traded the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT Rerfence card and a MSI Radeon RX 6800 XT Gaming X Trio for this MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Ventus 3X 24G OC card because I couldn't get the MSI Radeon RX 6800 XT Gaming X Trio sold people had a ton of excuses to bail out or trying to get it for candy.

I'd offer you a new EVGA RTX 3070 EC3 Black and a 8 month old Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6700XT for that 3090 if you were on the left side of the pond.

look if all plugs are connected properly.

if nothing helps i'd try to make sure nothing is unstable (ram without XMP, CPU stock)

if nothing else helps i'd contact Seasonic. just like eskimonster said. this PSU has a 12 year Warranty.

I'd offer you a new EVGA RTX 3070 EC3 Black and a 8 month old Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6700XT for that 3090 if you were on the left side of the pond.
Thank you sir that would be nice but then I would like a RX 6800 XT reference when going AMD again.

I had AMD Radeon RX 6800 & RX 6800 XT reference cards both great.

Dont know when you bought the PSU, but my Prime plat has 12 years of warranty. thought bout using warranty ?

I purchased it second handed in 2019 and I cannot find the receipt sadly.

I am running every thing stuck I just disabled onboard audio and pxe boot not using i then.

for audio I got my SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless.

I do not have a spare drive for a fresh install and I would like to avoid this like the plague.

Just an update, I found the receipt for the Seasonic PSU and their website says:

Transfer of Warranty
Seasonic offers transferable warranty for new purchases made on or after September 1, 2012 as long as the product is in its original factory condition and retains all the original factory labels and stickers. If you purchased your power supply prior to this date, and you are not the original owner of the unit, please contact our customer services.

The transfer of warranty will not alter the original length of warranty available for the product in its geographic region. The new owner will be requested to present the initial (original) purchase receipt to apply for Seasonic’s RMA services.

Which is good because this is from 14-12-2017 but I might miss a cable or 2 but I don't think it should do anything.
