Hello everyone,

I have been having some issues lately with my rig. I am using a 9800gx2 and I have both of my monitors go black from time to time and the fan on the video card speeds up. At this point I am forced to reboot. Yesterday I noticed that windows is reading all 6gb's of RAM I have but it says only four are usable.

Could my issues be related to memory low gap? It hasn't happened yet on stock clocks, but at least the overclock I was using was linx stable, so I don't think that is to blame right off the bat. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks :toast:

What setting do you have lowgap on and what other PCI devices do you have in the system, i can then recommend a setting, bare in mind that whatever it is set at, the system reserves more than that which may explain why you are using so much when running an app.

Right now it's on auto. I have only a sound card aside from the gx2. Could that be causing the issues I'm having though?

No, I am thinking auto may be reserving too much for the PCI/PCI-E devices, guessing you have a total of 1GB on that GX2 try manually setting lowgap to 1.5GB and see if that helps, if not, drop it down to 1GB, between the 2 you should be sorted, also, as an after thought, whats your pagefile setting?

Yeah you have a 32 bit os, which means that windows will read only
about 3 to 3.5 gb of your ram, thats including your video card in there too.
so you can say 3gb of ram and 512mb of your video card, at most!

You need either a 64 bit os, Vista Home 64, allows 8gb of ram, basic
16, i think but you'll have to check.
Or you could try increasing your virtual memory, that might do the trick,
but go for option one if you can.
Goto the settings where your virtual memory is in xp thats
-START-Control Panel-system
-Advance-performance-
-Advanced-change

check the "Custom Size" box and set the page file to 2-4GB
should be enough.
Also on a side note the auto option is not as helpful as it sounds. this
is after all windows we talking about!

His specs say Windows 7 64bit.

Indeed it is 64 bit. Also shows it In the screen shot. However I think the issue is finally sorted out. I'll keep you guys posted.
