Memory not running fast enough - 400MHZ DDR RAM

I have 2 sticks of DDR-400 ram and when I have checked it on CPU Z it says they are currently running at 157.9MHZ. I was wondering how I can go about upping it to the correct MHZ. Which I believe is 200x2 from what I read from another thread.

you can check the setting from bios.it seems that you have a 5:4 fsb/dram divider.you need a 1:1.

What is the make and model of the memory sticks you have?
Which driver version are you running with the video card.
What brand is the powersupply?
Which Thermaltake case do you have?
Is your cpu a Venice, Winchester or what?
What is the make of the IDE Drive?

Hmm for this particular problem that may be a little much information.

on the CPU tab of cpu-z what does it list for FSB near the bottom? Also find the multiplier this is important with respect to memory dividers on athlon64s.

Now go to the memory tab, now you already mentioned it lists 157.9 for Frequency, what does it have under FSBRAM ?

Basically I'm trying to find out whether you're running a divider like giorgos mentioned (most likely), or somehow your FSB is 157.9 with no divider (very unlikely).

so,you have a 200 mhz htt frequency.you must change the divider.

crashing the computer?idont think so.your memory is PC3200 and its running as if its PC2700.
go to bios and find it.

Enter bios, and open the advanced chipset features.
Then highlight the DRAM configuration line, press enter.
You will see the Dram Timing Selectable.
Be sure this is set to manual.
The first item is called Dram Clock, be sure this is set to DDR400.
Press the escape key twice and then highlite Save & Exit.
Press enter again, your system will boot.
Your memory is set to run at DDR400 or PC3200.

i have 2 gigs cheap ddr 400 memory.. i need to start mine of at default 200 x 11 at 160mhz so as it still keeps going when i have my fsb up to 11 x 260 or so.. the memory runs about its correct speed by then.. its okay forking out for faster memory but when u want 2 gigs it gets a little pricey.. with the amd 64s onboard memory controler fast memory dosnt give much of a gain.. pure cpu speed seems the key.. as that goes up so does the memory bandwidth..
