Ok, this window comes up when i go to play games such as: Counter-Strike Source or any of the HL2 series for that matter, and Fear, and some others.. but this is what comes up.

The Instruction at "0x0fc03e2c" referenced memory at "0x0d9aa1a0". The memory could not be "Read". Click ok to terminate the program.

Three things to try:

1) Run memtest for an hour or so (or until there are any errors)
2) If there are no errors run a test using Prime95 for a couple of hours
3) If neither brings up an error, I expect your Windows XP install is screwed, and a format may be in order

If you get errors in memtest or Prime95, try changing the sticks of RAM. If that doesn't help, your CPU could be dying.

Make sure you backup anything important before doing this, just in case. Make sure you aren't overclocking - nothing bad should happen, but if your CPU or memory are faulty then there is a small risk of losing data. Post back how you get on.

Alright, I switched my RAM sticks and it still has the same problem. I ran Prime95 awhile ago and i got an error within 7 minutes. I reset everything to default in BIOS and still the same problem. I'm not all that smart with computers yet, like i hope to be within a couple months, but why do you think it would be the CPU?

Did you overclocked your CPU?

How about memtest have you run that?

He hasnt run memtest but he has run p95 and it said there was an error. i havnt gone over there to work on his comp yet (were best friends in rl). i told him to set the vdimm to 2.8v and the timings to 3-4-4-10 and rerun p95.

Ballistix should already be at 2.8v anyway.I'd say his OC is too much but I don't know if he even is OC'd although with the timings you suggest it seems likely.
