I was talking to someone earlier about making my memory faster, and he said to change the timings. They are currently 3,3,3,9. I went into setup to try and change them, but I cant find where to do it. Please help me if you can.

Why start another thread? can you take screenshots of your BIOS start page, there are many different BIOS setups so unless I can see a pic I cannot tell you where to go. An alternate method is to download "SysTool" from the downloads section of this site and you casn tweak your timings from there in windows.

Am off on holiday in a few minutes so someone else might have to help, 2 weeks in Florida!

ddr2 and you're complaing about 3-3-3-9? I'd sayleave em, most ddr2 runs at 4-4-4-12, lol.
rif it was me I'd just leave the timings and see how far the mem clocks, perhaps you cna get it to run at 667.

up the system fsb, your presler should have plenty of headroom.

before you mess ur comp up or do something u dont know how to fix ex:reset cmos. you need to read up on some o/c forums. the best thing to do is do a google search on your pd pressler and find a site that has hopefully done a complete o/c tutorial on your specific chip. i dont want to sound rude but you need some bios and hardware education first. everyone of us has started where you are and the only thing you can do is start reading. :)

plz dont take my post as being harsh.

The time it took you to post the above, could have been spent on Google. Don't be lazy.

While your reading up, buy a better PSU... 300w is not enough for an overclocked dual core system. You should find a good brand 450w psu, or if you plan to upgrade your graphics card any time soon, 500w or more.

Good PSU brands:
Antec
Hiper
OCZ
Thermaltake
Loads more, but it's too early for me to think right just now.

You don't need to find any overclocking guides for your specific Processor... Overclocking intels is all the same, and really not difficult to do. Just google "overclocking guides" and plenty should come up.

Also, have a look in your bios, and see what options you have available.

If you post "but i'm too lazy" again, this thread will be locked.

OK then, the DX10 cards? How much will the really highest spec ones cost?

And what does it matter about the brand of the PSU. Surley the same wattage on a PSU is just that, the same, no matter what brand name is on it?

Just like anything else you would buy there are better products that cost more money. You absolutely get what you pay for regarding powersupplies. Some no-named 500watt powersupply is more then likely going to have a bad amount of voltage fluctuations. Meaning the voltage is not consistant. So if your 12v rail is going up and down 1/2 a volt, that can cause serious problems. Also the way they rate Watts may be different then say a good powersupply from OCZ or Antec.

Also the cheap 500Watt powersupplies are made cheap. They are way more likely to burn out, and its never good when that happens.

If you like your system running stable, and want to be sure its not the powersupply thats causing the problem...go with a good one.

Also, if you are on a freaking HP, your BIOS options are very limited. You wont be able to change timings unless you use software.

You are only able to increase the FSB using clockgen, since HP BIOS will not allow those kind of adjustements.

Please read some guides before wasting people's time. We have told you this over, and over and over. Everyone here who is interested in overclocking or PC technology ends up reading a guide or two. This is called learning.

If you want someone to hold your hand while you build or tweak a computer, please sign up for a local computer traning course.

So...what sort of stuff DOES overclock, just cos there is a brand name on it, doesn't make the components any different.

LOL ^^^

How about a motherboard designed for overclocking, with many BIOS options for overclockers to take advantage of.

How about the DFI Lanparty for instance?

You wouldn't be asking these questions, and I wouldn't be wasting my time posting this, if you READ SOME FUCKING GUIDES.

Are you threatening me?

Yea, I sure am

I'm going to kill you with awesome advice. Advice so complex you might have seizures. My posts will haunt you in your sleep.

LOL

Riiiiiiight!! So what you ARE saying basically, is that only custom build jobs can be Oc'D?

Pretty much :)

OEM computers can be overclocked slightly in some cases, but they aren't built to perform the same.
