When Meta acquired Oculus, it created a problem where Meta wanted to integrate the software ecosystem of the VR headsets with its common Meta accounts system that spans Facebook, Instagram, and Threads; whereas some users from the pre-acquisition days, held out on the older Oculus accounts, continuing to use them for their cloud saves, purchase information, acquired software, DLCs, and more. Meta set up a system to port these Oculus accounts over to a Meta account, which would let you retain all your digital assets; but apparently not everyone switched. Such holdouts need to switch by the end of March 29, 2024, because Meta has decided to drop the hammer on the Oculus accounts system. All Oculus accounts will simply be deleted, any purchases, DLCs, or other digital assets you have, will be lost. If you're one of the holdouts, check your e-mail for a message from Meta with a unique link to port your account.

Yeah, got the email, I didn't use my samsung gear VR anymore anyway....Oh well..

Time to buy Apple Vision Pro /s

Deleting accounts is not surprising from Meta, I suppose revoking Oculus access is not an option meta thought of

Colour me surprised, it was only a matter of time to fb, f-tards forced the fb account as a requirement.

When the original OR had an online account requirment just to used the device, it was already a hard pass. So after the subsequent acquisition by facebollox, this rendered the product DOA.

I was getting tempted on getting some budget VR as I await Index 2 - Meta has reminded me they don't care about gamers or privacy for that matter, so glad they did this cause it saved me some money lol

going to see what reviews are like for when psvr2 comes to PC later this year, might go that route instead of index 2 someday, we will see
