Metallic annoying noise PSU !

I already got my money back from him. He's expecting me to send the PSU as soon as i replace it. As i said, i'm trading with trustworthy people. This thread became too big for the matter. Thank you all for your involvement, i'll most likely get a VS 450/ VX 450 or a zalman ZM500-LX. Thank you all again !

Definitely go for the Corsair PSU as the Zalman isn't even sold anymore. They weren't very good units new. Good luck!

^Hate to say it, but this is a common reason a LOT of gamers make poor choices in the first place, they get stubborn and don't listen to sound advice.

"PCGarage"? Seriously? Go to a site like jonnyGURU if you want a professional, torture test bed capable opinion.

I've seen a LOT of even sites that used to be fairly reputable try to compete on PSU reviews, like Bjorn3D, and they end up putting out a lot of misleading info. This is something that needs to be done by experienced techs that have the right test setup, which isn't cheap btw.

What about this one ? i found it on a good price, like 35 bucks almost brand new. I dont expect the seller to have any kind of warranty since that psu is not sold in my country. Would it be better than a corsair vs450 or vx450?

I would never buy it, you can't expect much for 35 bucks.
Probably garbage.

Edit: It's 64 Euros!
Unknown brand to me.

i dont know. That's why i am asking. The guy said it has seasonic electronics inside. Actually he said it's a Seasonic S12II-520 Bronze re-branded.

Ok waiting some other member to chime in, I don't know anything about this brand.

It's clearly not a rebrand, compare the two in pictures side by side.
The dodgy one has a white fan for starters, they wouldn't change that if all they had to do was slap a sticker on the outside.

So i'm fine with either the BG 400w or BG500w, right ?

You should be, for what you have said your hardware is and what you are thinking about adding to it.

Ok, thank you very much and everyone who tried and helped me ! Have a nice day.

It's 64 Euros because yes, it IS a "Seasonic S12II-520Bronze rebadgée"

Even the BG500, being only Bronze rated can handle just 408w actual max load, so def not the 400. That's the thing with most PSUs made today that are only Bronze rated, they can't really handle anywhere near their rated power at a constant load, even if made by a decent company. The exception in that brand was the TA series Bronze, but it's been discontinued.

First, that's one of the worst explanations of the 80+ Bronze rating that I've ever seen. Output has nothing to do with a PSU's efficiency.
Secondly, it's listed (on that PSU database site) with a max 12 volt load of 408 watts, which seems to be a data entry error, because the S12II-520's 12 volt rating is 480 watts.
Third, (assuming that is it a rebadged S12II-520), it's rated for 520W Total continuous power at 40 °C.

I have no idea, i just saw that the max load for bg-400 was like 360 or so and the max load for bg-500 was 408, not that much of a difference. By the way, about this rebranding thing. How comes the LDLC-bg500 (rebranded S12II-520) has lower specs than the seasonic itself ?

That's max 12 volt load. Again, I feel that there's a typo on that site, but I can't find official numbers for those PSU's.

I assume that Seasonic does not want direct competition.

Only if you interpret it incorrectly by reading too much into it.
Output has nothing to do with a PSU's efficiency.
I never said it applies as a rule of thumb, but it IS fairly common that higher quality units are also higher efficiency in wattage output, and I gave an example as well.

The 408 stat may be off, but more often than not the principle of more efficient output for higher efficiency units still applies. All you're doing is tooting your horn as usual.

It's like you only saw their stat and got a bug up your butt for blaming me for quoting it.
