So I just got my new pc and had to get a mic splitter so i could talk. When it arrived I plugged it into my pc and my mic still isn't working. I've plugged it into the top and back and have tried a couple other things. My friends say they can hear my desktop audio like from youtube and twitch. I don't know what I can do. Anyone know how to help?

My audio is also a bit messed up with the mic splitter plugged in.

some times you can get an external sound card that plugs in to any usb port, they can some times help with console style headsets (ones with a Y splitter option, instead of mic & speaker in one plug)

something like this, just make sure it has pink (mic) & green (speaker)

Check your sound control panel (realtek etc etc prob the one provided by the board brand) for an option to unbind the inputs. For ex on a x570 asus board, I have to unbind all the ports to be able to use the mic. When the ports are bound together the front and rear mic input will work as one input. That caused issues with my mic and when unbound it worked.

China made splitters are crap

Type "microphone privacy" in the windows search bar and run the thing, under allow apps access to the microphone change the setting to on, scroll down a bit and change allow desktop apps access to on as well.

from the control panel, open the Sound panel. Choose the 2nd Tab, Recording. You mic should be listed there, or there should be a couple mics listed. Activate each one and talk into the mic, the green bar on the right should light up. Once you get the correct mic activated, set it as default.

If that is already working correctly, and its still not working, than whatever program you are suing to chat with is not set up correctly.

This is all assuming you do not have a defective mic or connection.
