Oh no!!!!!!!!!!. Microsoft have changed the colour of the BSOD to black, this is terrible - imagine the confusion BSOD now has 2 meanings!!!

The software giant’s notorious Blue Screen bug check or error screen is now black inside the latest Windows 8 builds. Microsoft has used the Blue Screen of Death since early copies of Windows 1.0. The first Windows error screen composed of code page 437 symbols against a blue background. The first proper Blue Screen was present in Windows 3.x. Microsoft started using a Red Screen of Death inside early Windows Vista builds. The company also used Red Screens inside early beta copies of Windows 98.

you have to admit though, it looks a lot more friendly then the BSOD, more like its just talking to you instead of OMG!!!!!!! ITS BROKEN!!!!! that you normally get with bsod

Well you can still call it a BSOD.

Lol, the "BSOD" acronym still lives on as black screen of death.

but its not blue

i get your point though, i just saw this and thought is deserved a thread

black is the new blue

Think of the black as a very dark blue :p Eh, even if the Bluescreen is somewhat a legacy, I don't mind them changing it. I don't see one too often anyways, especially since I laid off the overclocking for the time being (summer now and ridiculously high temperatures in April. APRIL!). I'm sure within one hour of Win8 Beta launch there will be a Bluescreen mod or something available.

cerulean blue is a gentle breeze.

I am just glad they didn't go with red as red for me implies the worse, imagine how much panic it would cause

As soon as I saw the subject title I thought it was just several new lines that Microsoft had added to the Windows kernel :D

As soon as you click OK the BSOD should go away, I think.

red would be cool, remember like on emergency situation in the submarine

Or a PMS...ok not good example since some here never got laid :P

Yes you could but i would not just for the fact of a lack of info on that screen. Like how do you get to know what the error is if you cannot boot into windows ?.

windows has done errors like that on my computer, eg: all it has is an error code with lots of 1's or 0's in it

they were just in the tradditional format

Lol, I just got one yesterday...XP rocks!

BlueSOD, you will be missed

I, for one, welcome our new supreme BSOD overlords.

Good find. I tried to search for that one, but was unable to find it. Gave up and went with Data's.

It's no longer the BSOD, even while Black starts with B.. it looks more like a black-screen-of-mild-uncertainty.

I'll miss the "It's definitely broken" feeling lol

I laughed so fucking hard I chocked on my coffee ! I love Data pounding on the console ! And BSOD 2 Ultimate ! I love you GUYS !

OHMG ! And the one with #1 Waiting for the Porn ! Then the BSOD That has happened to me 99.9% Then BSOD !!! That is just hilarious !

Oh Blue or black it still crashed right ? So who cares really .

When I was at MS tech support a guy said he had a BSOD and I assumed blue screen, but he meant the black screen with the blinking dot that happens on startup when the system is totaled. Then he laughed in my face when I assumes BSOD = bluescreen.

As long as it's more helpful than the old BSOD, I'm all for it.

meh still a bsod, it's just the black screen of death now. which is far more ominous.
